So I love camping and traveling. I've always thought one day I'd like to get a van not only for short weekend trips, but maybe to check out of life for a bit and just travel the country traveling, maybe even head down to Mexico and up to Canada, just see some things, explore, do some camping.
I'm always casually looking at vans but happenned to see one not too far away on Offerup the other day that looked promising. The previous owner had already done some work fixing it up to make it a camper van, although if I were to buy this I'd probably tear out the carpet and put in laminate flooring and fix up his design a little bit.
I took it for a test drive. It's been a while since I drove a bigger vehicle and also a while since I've driven an older vehicle. It definitely took some getting used to the loose steering, just the sheer size of the van. The one thing that's making me holdup on buying it is the gas mileage. Obviously it's to be expected with a bigger car and also an older car gas isn't gonna be that great, I suppose that's why everyone is opting for Sprinter vans these days, although while you get better gas you pay quite a large price upfront for that better gas mileage as those vans go for a fortune. The guy told me this G20 gets about 10-15 mpg depending upon the terrain and how heavy you are on the gas.
I took it for a test drive, went home to think about it told the guy I'd get back to him. He was open to doing a partial trade for my motorcycle and the rest in cash. The best part this van only has 58,000 original miles which is insanely low for the year, I believe it's a 1987 if I remember correctly.
What's your thoughts on it?
Could be a good youtube channel idea if you buy it and travel around in it would be cool to see
You could also buy the New VW Atlas and remove the seats.... big enough for a bed and small kitchen
I am waiting for a new VW Camper Van.... my wife wants an Airstream... I need to earn more Steem and Smoke. I could have bought an Airstream with 3 Bitcoin back in December. Oh well
