Travel Article #2 | Malaysia | Cameron Highlands
Dear Steemians,
We loved visiting Cameron Highlands in our trip.
It's an area in north-central Malaysia known for its tea plantations and its cooler climate compared with the rest of the country. It's like the "winter" zone of Malaysia, even though its temperature does not fall below 15 degrees.
The mix between low temperatures, its 1500 meters above sea level and its fertile lands, make it an ideal place for agricultural activities, specially tea and strawberry.
There are lots of tea plantations in the area and we went to Sungei Palas Tea State "Boh", because it was more accessible for us. There are several possibilities to go to this place, to go in a tour or a local bus that passed every hour or to hitchhike.
And this last option is what we did, given that the distance was not so long, maybe 25 kilometers. First by a national road and then a deviation to this place.
This deviation was about 2 kilometers of smooth ups and downs and the landscape worth the walk.
The tea plantations, from afar, seemed like a soft green mattress. The contrast with the gray sky and the low clouds was great.
There were many workers on the plantations cutting tea leaves. While some made them with a slightly rustic machine, others went to the old way with scissors and a basket.
Hope you enjoyed this article and liked the photos.
Have a nice day,
Flor
