Hey good people,
recently I was on my first 15h flight from Germany to Singapore. I am very inexperienced in terms of flying so long distances. There were quite a few things that would have liked to know beforehand. For all you experienced travelers this is probably a boring post. But for all of you that are a new to this as I am.. This post might contain some valuable info.
1. Don't worry about Entertainment
I was worried about how to pass the time in a 15h flight. I got me a battery pack and tons of netflix offline content. If you go for such a long flight, check if the airplane has got an entertainment system. If so save your timenin setting anything up. There is enough content to keep your entertained forna whole week. But make sure...
2. Make sure you bring comfortable headphones
You will get a pair of headphones but those are a pain in your ears after just a few minutes. The sound quality is bad and from time to time I even had problems understanding anything. But if you bring your most comfortable headphone, make also sure...
3. Make sure you bring a flight adapter
Even in the year 2017, many airplanes still don't have a standard 3,5 mm headphone jack. If you forget to bring an adapter you'll have to take the cheap headphones provided by the crew... And as I said... Not fun
4. Make also bring a pillow
I know what you think. These pillows are for old people, look uglyand you don't need them. But u do. It is so comfortable to give you neck a rest during such a long flight. Even more so if you are watching videos the whole flight.
5. Walk and Drink
Drink a lot during the flight the air is pretty dry and drinking is a good way to make sure that you stand up. Even if you are young and slim. Make sure that you take a walk on the plane from time to time. Don't be shy to ask your neighbor to let you pass. Not going for a walk can cause some ugly pain in your legs after such a flight. Not enjoyable.
6. Don't clap on landing
Yes, I was uses to short touristic flights inside the EU. And there you give applause on landing. A passenger told me that pilots don't like that and that I should not do it. I googled it afterwards and.. Well, yes... according to the internet that is really the case. You learn every day..
And I hope soem of you found some usefull info in this post. To all you travel experts any advice you got?
