Into the Light - A Black and White Forest Perspective

East Sooke Park-3.jpg

When its to rough to dive, there is nothing better then a hike through the rain forest on the west coast.

I can't always be underwater getting images so I challenge myself to find other ways and places to be creative. Get outside and just shoot.

East Sooke Park-1.jpg

The parks and forests on Vancouver Island are some of the densest and lush in the Pacific Northwest. Hiking through these ancient groves allows for some very interesting and fun photo opportunities.

Even on bright days, the forest can feel dark and foreboding, light bounces and dances off the leaves and bark, casting and creating strange shapes, like monster hidden in shadow.

East Sooke Park-2.jpg

Life grows and thrives on top of other life, in a harmonious coexistence. Every inch of the undergrowth is covered in dead and decaying leaves and branches but through that new life sprouts and revitalizes the ever growing forest.

Thanks for reading, these images are from East Sooke Park on Vancouver Island. Nature is full of life and beauty get out there and share it with others.

I love these photos, I'm an amateur photographer myself but I'll take a shot at black & white photography. Thanks for the inspiration

very beautiful pics

very amazing shots thanks for sharing

Stunning, awesome bokeh off the top of that first shot. What lens were you using? Looks almost like the helios bokeh of old!

You can never have enough great photos of trees.

All photos beeing captured black and white.... Specially the first one made me stop a bit. It is like an infinite maze, glourious forest king who tries to jeep the secret no matter of what. The maze is like infiite.

I really like the first one! But maybe just shrink and make the watermark a little bit less noticeable? Feels like it takes away from the composition.

They are beautiful, the things that keep us alive, without trees, trees and nature, we wouldn't be there, some people aren't conscious of it, and it makes me sad.

incredibly beautiful black and white mystical forest!! very nice shape,shadows,...thank you for sharing these photos, these forest experiments :)!

Fantastic piece. Lets steem on bro

Wow! Beautiful work!

good work i am amazed with your comments

Nice work, impressive how you captured what looks like glowing edges on the three branches in the first photo.

Just found your profile. Great stuff. I look forward to enjoying more images...

Really stunning photos! Looks like an amazing area!

Beautiful images! I have been to the Pacific Northwest and in my experience it has always been difficult to capture its beauty within the thick forest. Your photos are really nice and full of texture and depth. I know that's not easy to capture :)
