Today's a sunny day in Mikkeli, and soon I won't need my winter jacket anymore.
The snow has almost all melted away, and you can see green on the trees now!
I was looking at the photos taken today and I thought this one was quite apt.
Other than being rather picturesque, this photo happened to show me right in the middle, in front of two paths.
It also reminded me of a recent post (The Death of the Singapore Dream) by a fellow Singapore Steemian @cheah, read it here.
I commented on his post about my disdain for 'getting a job' and some of my thoughts on that.
He gave me sound advice on this issue, and I really appreciate that.
Find that intersection between what you love, what you're good at, what you can be paid for, and what the world needs. The Japanese call it ikigai: your reason for being.
Start now. Find your life purpose. Determine your goal. Then work towards it, no matter what.
I thought about it, and I am actually rather disappointed in myself a little. I actually had this sense of Ikigai many years back. I knew what I wanted, but probably family, peer pressure made me think a little otherwise. I did not push through with what I wanted, and some external factors, army, my lack of proficiency in certain skills.. nudged me in a different direction and I eventually gave up.
I haven't tried to think about it too much, as it was one of my lousier moments in life. But I think that it had some implications. I used to be able to talk quite freely and confidently, but I lost that confidence soon after, when I talk to a crowd my hands and legs sometimes shiver. I started to be able to feel some nervousness. I probably lost track of what I wanted and doubted myself.
I found new interests along the way, and wanted to pursue them thereafter. But I don't know if its just a lack of luck but many external factors kept making me fail in the endeavors I sought just when I was beginning to gain traction.
But could this be the story of I fell down 5 times, I get up 6?
If you can't find your ikigai just yet, find something you can be paid for and plug away at the problem until you find an answer.
I am still not sure about my life purpose yet.
But I now have goals in life to work towards to, I am actively pursuing and improving. I remind myself each day that I need to remain committed, and not be complacent. I know that one day I can return back to my old self of confidence in presenting, without trembly hands and legs.
If you do need to know which path I actually took today-
I went left.
Because that's the route I normally walk to go home ._.
this is probably your face now

In life, there will be always be paths to choose, decisions to make. I think we all face it at one time or another. You are still young. You seem like a smart and level headed kind of guy. I will sure you will find your way on life's journey. Be patient. Best wishes.
Thanks @quotes-haven!
Often people focus too much on the future, you can only live in the present. Today. Make the most of each day. Put together a string of good days the future will work itself out.
Thank you! Will be setting achievable goals each day
