Incredible India!
Last semester break I went to India with my parents. I did go to India before once, but I was a kid back then.
Dhaka to Calcutta
Anyways, I went to Calcutta, India by bus. Bus service from Bangladesh to India is just fine, if you wanna save some buck by not choosing Plane!
[Trip suggestion 1: Try the train service if not plane, because train service from Bangladesh to India is a better option than the bus service]
Me and my mom, in front of our Hotel.
We stayed in a pretty average hotel paying was more than the usual rate, as everything was booked or filled due to IPL (Indian Premier League).
[Trip suggestion 2: Try to book your hotel using agoda.com, or any other website, before a week at least, to get better deals, and hassle free hotel booking]
Been to kolkata for a just a day, because we wanted to spend more time in Darjeeling, as none of us been there before and heard a lot about that beautiful place.
Calcutta to Shiliguri
Using local train service, we went to Shiliguri from Calcutta. Shiliguri is like a stoppage between Calcatta and Darjeeling. It took us freaking 16 hours to reach Shiliguri from Calcutta.
The train departed from Calcutta station at 09:30 AM, and reached Shilguri at 1:30 AM (next day)
We stayed the night at Shiliguri.
Shiligiru is a very crowded place and is the closest city with proper hospitals and everything in the ground level. Even for emergency doctor visit, people have to go to Shiliguri from Dargeeling, As Darjeeling is a high land, and it is more of a tourist place.
This is picture of Shiliguri at early morning, very peaceful morning indeed.
Shiliguri to Darjeeling
Next morning we stared our journey toward Darjeeling. You can not go to Dargeeling by plane, train or bus. You need to use SUV or sedan, as the road is, what can I say, well VERY VERY TRIPPY!
These are the type of SUVs people use to go to Dargeeling. Oh! Look at the beautiful sky!
Look at my super cool dad, posing! :p
Its a hilly track! Pretty frightening, and very beautiful and worth taking few selfies! :P
Darjeeling
Once we reached Darjeeling, I thought it would be like heaven! But reality check! We had to find hotel first, only then we can start exploring the Incredible Darjeeling. [Trip suggestion 3: READ Trip Suggestion 2 AGAIN]
Finally we got the hotel that seems GOOOOOOOOD!
The picture was taken from the hotel's rooftop. [Trip suggestion 4: Spend few extra bucks on hotel if possible, because every journey has 2 parts, (i) the hotel experience, (ii) the entire trip]
Day 1 in Darjeeling was just the journey from Shiliguri to Darjeeling and getting the hotel and exporing the market places near the hotel. But..
Day 2 was specifically scheduled for visiting 5 points, i. e. visiting the 5 tourist attracting places of Darjeeling.
We it was suppose to be a long day, we woke up very very early, before the sunrise.
Early morning scene of one of the most crowded tourism place on earth.
5 points of Darjeeling
(i) Tiger hill
Our hotel was about 7000 ft above the ground level, where as the Tiher hill was about 8500 ft. The view, OMG, it was amazing.
Perfect view for snaps. Look who me and my mom were posing. This is literally a picture perfect shot, isn't it? :3
(ii) Batasia Loop
Batasia Loop is a monument basically. I don't know the details about the monument though.
Look at them cuties. My parents posing, wearing the traditional dress of Darjeeling.
(iii) Rock Garden
The road toward Rock Garden from Batasia Loop was scary af. Look at the slopes of the road. Only pro drivers can safely drive you there.
This a nice place to be, as the place has so many things to offer.
Also, good for posing in front of the waterfall.
My mom got super excited seeing the waterfall.
(iv) Tea Garden
Tea Garden is nothing fancy. It's basically the lands local use for cultivating green tea and other form of tea.
However, if you are lucky enough, then you get to see clouds! Not as cool as Tiger hill, not worth watch.
(v) Japanese Temple, Darjeeling
Out of all the five points, Japanese Temple was my personal favorite.
The temple consists of some massive statues of Buddha, and the wall is decorated with wooden sculpture.
Darjeeling to Calcutta
On our way back from Darjeeling, we didn't stay for long in Shiliguri. Rather we waited at the bus station. And yes, we choose bus over train, because we were not ready to sit for another 14 hours in the train. Once we got back to Calcutta, we spend the whole day shopping. We stayed in Calcutta just for a day! And the next day, we came back to Dhaka, after a week long trip!
PS. All the picture (apart from the one where I'm posing) were taken by me. And most of the pictures are uploaded in my Instagram. Instagram link: https://www.instagram.com/shadmannnn_
