The Iloilo Dinagyang Festival 2017 anchored the theme "See, Fell, Love" an intro to the 50th year of Dinagyang in 2018. It showcase the rich history, heritage, passionate devotion and fun-loving spirit of the Ilonggos. Participants portrayed as local warriors dance while chanting to the sounds of the drum beats. They don fascinating colorful costumes mostly made of local material and bodies covered with black soot, at least most of them in the past as I remember.
The performances are spectacular, it will send chills up your spine. The remarkable precised movements of the performers are aided by a group of drummers who play various rhythmic patterns. It consist of several "tribes" characterized by choreographed dances from energetic men and women. A trip to the Philippines is incomplete without experiencing this popular Iloilo City Festival. Dagoy is the official mascot of the 2017 Dinagyang Festival. The festival is celebrated every fourth Sunday of January.
