Japan Trip in Kyoto - Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine 伏見稲荷大社 [Original Content ]

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

Another must see spot in Kyoto - the famous Fushimi Inari Taisha shrine! We went there early morning at around 7am so we would have the place more or less for ourselves. Join us to our trip to this amazing place!

Fushimi Inari Taisha is the head shrine of Inari, located in Fushimi-ku, Kyoto, Japan.

At first we wanted to go by bicycle but it was raining. Hence we took the taxi and we got dropped right in front of the gates. First, there were some shrines and buildings. Everything was actually bigger than expected!

The shrine sits at the base of a mountain also named Inari and includes trails up the mountain to many smaller shrines which span 4 kilometers and takes approximately 2 hours to walk up.

There are hundreds, if not thousands of those red pillared gates. all along the trail up towards the mountain. The trail is going through a forest and it is truly magical. There is also a small creek and different kind of stairways and bridges.

To the top of the mountain are tens of thousands of mounds for private worship. Foxes, regarded as the messengers, are often found in Inari shrines. One attribute is a key in their mouths.

We didn't go all the way up to the mountain and returned back half way up. We followed another trail going down and it was almost like going through a cemetery.

We hope you liked this post about the Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine in Kyoto. This was one of our favourite spots to explore here besides the Bamboo Grove, which we did a post about here:

Amazing.
Twenty years ago my brother brought a girl who was in Belgrade to sleep with us. It was a girl from Japan who graduated from college and went to visit the world. She met my brother accidentally, and he showed her hospitality, they were just friends. Japan has a very great culture and tradition, I and my family love and respect Japan.

So are you from Belgrade? We love Belgrade. We were there already 9 times :)

You're making such a fantastic tour! marvellous!

I just started following you!

Coool! Followed you back!!!

Kyoto is a magical place. I didn't get to see Fushimi, because of time, but would definitively like to go there... Maybe next time. I am thinking of going to Japan again in 2020 (75 years A-bomb, Olympics.) Still far away, I know...

Kyoto and Japan in general is indeed a magical place :) 2020 isn't too far away actually :) At least something to look forward to. Thanks for commenting, followed you back.

Hey, I recognize those spots too and even went to the little ancient stone shrine area earlier this year. I am actually in the process of posting about my trip to Japan and will have some photos like yours. Of course, they won't be as good as yours, I am not a good picture taker.

Did you go to the chopstick shop on the way to the shrine and get them engraved? I would also recommend seeing Kinkaku, you will have to pay which is a bummer but it's such a good example of a Buddhist hall.

Followed you and looking forward to see your pictures :) doesn't matter how good or bad, what matters are the memories you get from your photos ;)

Awwww sadly didn't see the engraving station. Perhaps because we went there early morningsy. When we were done the vendors and street sellers were arriving.

Thanks for the tip! Will check it out :)
