Cycling the Himalayan Mountains

in #travel7 years ago

Himalayas include nine of the world’s ten highest peaks, including the Mount Everest. In between the middle and outer Himalayas lies a beautiful valley known as Chenab Valley. The valley got its name from the Chenab river which flows through the valley. The Chenab river is a perennial river and many major hydroelectric projects have been constructed on it.

Me and my fatbike went to explore the unexplored Chenab Valley and here are some of the snapshots from the trip:

  3. Pure white Gypsum source near Dhamkund. It is one of two giant Gypsum reserves of the state (the other one in Uri). These two giant Reserves have potential of nearly 99 million tons of good quality Gypsum. The under construction dam near Sawalkote will submerge the whole of Dhamkund town, including the gypsum reserve
