Krka National Park

in #travel8 years ago (edited)

Hello!

Everyone who was in Šibenik or near need to visit NP Krka. I remembered this National Park because I found some my photos of this amazing place.

The Krka National Park is a spacious, largely unchanged region of exceptional and multifaceted natural value, and includes one or more preserved or insignificantly altered ecosystems. The Krka Waterfalls (most amazing waterfalls for me) has the second highest concentration of lavender per km squared in Europe, hence the high frequency of wasps and bees in the area.

Skradinski buk is one of the most attractive parts of the park. It is a massive, clear, natural pool with high waterfalls at one end and cascades at the other. It is the lowest of the three sets of waterfalls formed along the Krka river. Also, that is place where is swimming allowed and best photos you can made there.

Inside the park is the island of Visovac which was founded during the reign of Louis I of Hungary, home to the Roman Catholic Visovac Monastery founded by the Franciscans in 1445. The park also includes the Eastern Orthodox Monastery Krka founded in 1345. The island can be visited by a boat tour from Skradinski buk.

The Krka monastery is a spiritual center of the Orthodox Dalmatian Eparchy (Diocese), which has its see in Šibenik. It was first mentioned in written documents in the year 1402 as the pious endowment of Jelena Šubić, the sister of Emperor Dušan. The monastery was built and rebuilt until the late 18th century.

But now, a little professional deformation...everyone is looking at what more profits, and record-breaking visitors. We must be aware that a large flow of people through these areas is destroying flora and fauna. For the environment it would be better if the number of visitors distributed throughout the year, and perhaps a year to limit the number of visitors. If we do not care for the environment, nature gives back in much worse shape. Keep the environment, do not cut trees because we need it for life.

Have a nice day! :)
