One of The Oldest Artificial Pond ‘ANAPJI’ of Shilla Dynasty

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

There was an one of the oldest artificial pond in Gyeongju. The size of pond was huge, so it would be better to call it lake.

This pond was made after the unification of Korean peninsular 674 AD.
This pond was said to be a part of the palace of Shilla dynasty.
It was located in front of the main palace of Shilla dynasty.
It is recorded that the crown prince had resided there.

It was made very scientifically.
The entrance of water to the pond was made thoughtfully.

It was designed to filter the impurities from water.

And there was an island to control the speed of water.

The wall was made in eastern area, but there was no wall in western part.
This design was intended the pond looked wider.

It was surprising how they had built such a large artificial pond more than 1400 years ago.

Almost of original building was ruined after the collapse of Shilla dynasty.

Current buildings were reconstructed in these days.

While walking along the road around the pond, I enjoyed the beauty of the pond.

Nice to see that there are Koi fishes there.
I have a 15-20 thousand liters pond in my garden with 14 Koi.
And now at this time of year they are starting to wake up and wait form warmer weather, like me.

the pond was so beautiful that it only belongs to the heaven! thank you for sharing .

I love fish.

Your photography is so beautiful!great!I guess you must be a person who loves life mostly. There is an old saying in China that if the water is too clear, there will be no fish.but today I saw the water is too clear, there are fish too。。。。haha

Hopefully that's the case, but it's not always the case.

This posts tells us how the people before us was so genius and architecturally skilled. they have taken care of the nature around build a amazing lake for the peace of eye. i wish today's architect could understand and learn to build from the same manner

looks very tranquil

'ANAPJI' is 안압지 in Korean.

That is such a nice lake and it's tough to believe that it's that much old. This is something new about Shilla dynasty.Through your post i learned about Shilla dynastya a lot.I had no idea about korean history but just for you i know some part of it now.Thank's for sharing with us.

The pond must represent one of the local gods in shilla kingdom because a body water of such standing usually hold a lot of significance both in terms of spiritual and healing. Would be glad if you can give more views on the water

as u mentioned its very surprise how our ancient built this kind of huge creation.how they carried large sized stones?and how they broke them into small pieces.they have had advanced technology than now.

This pond or lake whatever you call it is really amazing. It's really hard to believe that it's almost 1400 year's old.A t that period they were very rich at their architecture.Shilla dynasty was very rich it shows. The lake is such a nice place to visit. At that time they thought about filtering water that is brilliant.Thank's for this post.

1400 years ago? Wow! This is definitely not a pond, it is a lake like you rightly pointed out sir. The beautiful fishes too. Never seen this type before.

Wow it looks so authentic place.. Asian people has a huge wisdom on them so it shouldn't be surprised how they build this place and pure the water and calculate every thing..

This is such an extraordinary pond! And you managed to capture its beauty very well. I am in love with the color of the water, by the way.

Thank you so much for sharing this beauty and how intelligently it was built.

very nice post, how i wish i can visit that place someday..

i wish i could sit there by pond one day

Very nice picture..

columns in the shilla dynasty period, I saw the trees there were dried up there and whether nobody preserved them. I think the historic place must be kept clean and in the preservation of everything that makes the location of the pool is always awake. you have shared an important science for me and for all who are here. thank you @slowwalker.
