The traditional resort in Gong Joo, Korea

in #travel7 years ago

I ‘d like to introduce traditional resort in Gong Joo city, Korea. While traveling around local area, I found traditional resort. This place is not famous in korea, but it seems that this resort would be very useful for strangers to travel around the Baek Jae Dynasty Culture. At first traffic is very convenient, you can go Boo Yeo city where I had posted before.

Boo Yeo and Gong joo are the center of Baek Jae Dynasty.

From the traditional resort in Gong Joo you can get to the national museum of Baek Jae Dynasty. The one of the most famous tombs in Baek Jae Dynasty, King Moo Ryeong’s tomb is so close from the traditional resort. You can get there on foot.

The most important thing in the traditional resort is that you can enjoy korean traditional culture.
You can choose where you want to stay at.

.

This is summer. This resort was built by traditional way. So it is cool even in summer.
But the best season is supposed to the winter. You can experience the traditional warming system, On Dol.
The fire woods would be used to warm the floor of the traditional house.
You might think it unbelievable experience.
If you suffer neuralgia, the On Dol, warm floor would be helpful.
But the most important thing is that this resort is cheap.
When you visit korea, I recommend you stay at the traditional resort in Gong Joo.

i like that too

In Korea, it seems the past and present have found a way to coexist in peace. The traditional resort built so close to the tomb of King Moo Ryeong is an example--you can walk there by foot.

The pictures of the tomb are beautiful and convey the sense that the ancestors of the past are still nearby and their spirits still inhabit the place.

The resort is well-kept and neat - the idea of heating the floor seems to be an ancient practice. I know when I studied Roman villas that was the accepted practice and the American architect, Frank Lloyd Wright preferred it in his houses, believing if your feet were warm, you were too.

A lovely post about Korean history and culture with some practical advice about accommodation included as well.

Good work, @slowwalker

@progressivechef

It's Gongju. 공주 the ㅜ has an "ou" "oooouu you're in trouble" sort of sound rather than "joo" or "jew" phonetically .

Nitpicking aside, looks like a lovely place to stay I'll keep this in mind when I visit..museum and tombs seem really interesting.
