What I remember most from travelling by train through Russia is: trees, trees, trees, and then: more trees.
The repetitions seemed endless, as was the soundtrack of travelling on rails - kadunk-kadunk... kadunk-kadunk.
Travelling by train in that sense is way more exciting in Scotland: every quarter or half hour your view from the window will change. There's a very pleasant mix of little villages, some wide and empty moors, some trees, a village again, and after all this there might even be a stop! (Stops in Russia would take hours to arrive at :-))
The picture above is actually quite similar to the images I might have taken in Russia. At least similar to the memories I have of that journey. I am going to dive into my photo archives to see if I indeed took a 'tree and reflection' themed picture in my 100+ hours on trains in Russia.
As a photographer most of the time you'll try to find subjects that stand out. But after a few years of creating and collecting images the pictures that you repeatedly took pictures of will be what's defined as 'your body of work'. Maybe mine will be a book with pictures through 'dirty train windows' :-)
