Day #1 of #7 days in Thailand.

For this I decided to show you Guys, 'Wat Saket temple' aka golden mount temple.
showing you lunch before and dinner afterwards.

Golden mount is a really beautiful temple, with great views and only a 50 THB / 1.5USD entrance fee
which goes to the upkeep of the place.
Its much less touristic as the nearby and sometimes hectic 'GRAND PALACE' which carries a whopping 500THB / $16 entrance fee!

SO LETS GO TO GOLDEN MOUNT AS SEEN IN THE PIC I SNAPPED BELOW!

We started the day late as i finished work at 2PM. For lunch we at my favorite local Thai street food shop. Its delicious and cheap!
this is the street its on the place is on the right with the blue tables , situated on such a typically old Thai style street.

we ate Tom seb soup, which is cow offal soup, grilled beef, beef Laab which is minced beef with spicy basil, and the famous somtam with salted duck egg. OH and sticky rice

The bill came to 210THB / $6.60 based on current exchange rates of 1USD to 42 THB (not bad for lunch for two)

Off to the temple! we decided to take the BTS, which is a sky train system connecting a lot of key places in Bangkok to a boat pier and then the boat to walking distance from the temple.

here is the BTS the fair was 40 THB / $1 per person (a 12KM journey)

Get off the BTS at Sapan Taksin station then its a 3 minute walk to the boat pier.

on the boat, on the Chao Phraya River. The Chao Phraya River is the largest river in Thailand. it stretches from northern Thailand all the way to Bangkok flowing into the gulf of Thailand. a total of 321 mileds and you will see everything from container ships to small wooden fishing boats to food vendors selling there products right from their boats on the river!

20180213_170710.jpg thumbs up!

20180213_170754.jpg

its a great way to travel in Bangkok (beating the traffic) and so much to see either side of the vast river from shanty houses to five star hotels! the boat was 15THB to travel 5 stops

HOWEVER! the boat "forgot" to stop at the pier we needed to reach. OR my GF got us on the wrong boat ill let you decide.

we got off at the next stop and took a good old TUK TUK for 100THB to the temple.

we arrived at golden mountain at 6:00PM just in time for sunset.
the temple is 342 steps to the top 5-10 mins if you're nor browsing the monuments or if its not too crowded!
and the view from the top can be quite breathtaking, simultaneously seeing the old and the new of Thailand, for example a 500 year old temples and modern MahaNakhon which is thailands tallest building standing 1,029ft high.

i took some pics inside the temple (from my smart phone so excuse the quality)

Some Buddhists believe the louder you can make these bells sound the more famous your name will become, famous and prosperous in any line of work you do! SO YER IT GETS NOISY!

After the sunset we took a taxi to a river side restaurant f20180213_185337.jpgor dinner, called 'inlove' restaraunt, a bit more expensive than lunch, but with it being an early valentines meal, great food, live music, spectacular views of king Rama eight bridge and the passing boats alonch the Chao Phray. It really is worth it!
