Sak yant is the Thai art of tattooing yantras and incantations to empower a disciple of a teacher. It becomes a sacred art when it's practiced by skilled monks who teach and tattoo their disciples from their temples. The other kind is a yielder of Thai Wicca, often skilled in the arts by studying under numerous monks, Thai reusis and master Wicca practitioners. Monks tattoo their disciples with either holy ink or holy oil which are consecrated to the highest levels of divinity, the monk yielding can reach. sak yant masters who aren't monks, put power into the tattoos from the incantation invoked, after the tattoo is finished.

Introduced to Thailand by the Khmer Empire, the practice of sak yant has been an honorable tradition for Thai men. Many surrounding countries also have great monks and practitioners of yantra tattooing adapted to their own traditions. The powers that are bestowed upon sak yant grand masters & masters disciples include invincibility, impeccable charm & charisma, great fortune, spiritual protection from the dark forces, animalistic protection and great luck. In ancient times, Siamese warriors used to be protected by their yantras during battle and many powerful monks became legends during these times because of that protection.

In recent years, sak yant has hit mainstream from Ajarn Noo Kanpai (Ajarn means teacher) tattooing many Thai, Chinese & Hollywood superstars. The first superstar was Angelina Jolie with the "Ha-Teaw/5 Rows yantras" on her upper back. This yantra is usually what girls and women start with on their sak yant journeys. The other superstars that followed include Michelle Rodriguez & Cara Delevingne, Brittany Daniel and many more. The friendly argument in Thailand asks did Ajarn Noo Kanpai's yantras help Angelina Jolie became a mega superstar or did she help him become unbelievably famous.

The most famous temple for sak yant is Wat Bang Phra in Nakhon Pathom, Thailand, which is 2 hours outside of Bangkok. The former Abbott Luang Por Pern (Luang Por is equivalent to reverend father) was the most famous sak yant grand master of the last generation. Luang Por Pern passed on leaving only a handful of disciples, which most of them still are robed, still tattooing to this day.

My Path Through the Art of Thai Magic

After I became a disciple of the late great Luang Por Koon, I mastered astral project from his teachings in a very short time. I was awarded two consecrated gold scrolls called takruts, in which I have inserted beneath the skin above my Adam's apple and right arm. I also managed to get my family members including my wife and daughter, along with 5 family members the same insertion at Wat Ban Rai. These were the last editions of his gold takruts that Luang Por Koon would ever make.

After Luang Por Koon passed on, I sought further knowledge and became a disciple of Luang Por Paew at the legendary Wat Bang Phra of Nakhon Pathom.

He was the first monk to begin my back of Luang Por Pern's complete tiger face. Luang Por Paew is also one of the original disciples of Luang Por Pern. In Luang Por Pern's lineage, the complete sum of all the yantras together on a disciples' back makes the face of a tiger as one whole yantra. How intense is that?

My second ajarn at Wat Bang Phra is Phra Maja Somchai where I have countless yantras tattooed in holy oil on my back and some yantras on my arms in holy ink. I'm also a disciple of Phra Maja Somchai's disciple, Ajarn Dam who empowered me with my "tiger's roar" & "Nai Khanom Thom" yantras.

The "Nai Khanom Thom" yantra is a more modern yantra that was created in the spirit of Muay Thai.

My 3rd Ajarn Luang Por Ya is also a disciple of the late great Luang Por Pern but stays at Wat Nang Liao in Lampang, Thailand.

I got the opportunity to become a monk at Wat Nang Liao with Luang Por Ya and learned about animalistic summoning from him.

During my time as a monk, I received one of the highest yantras on top of my head called the "36 Directions" offering powers of protection from the dark forces and dangers in 36 directions.

If you're visiting Thailand and want to experience our ancient tradition of sak yant then I would suggest visiting Wat Bang Phra when you're in Bangkok. Most taxis will take you for about 1500 baht, which you'd be buying comfort & time. If you're visiting Chiang Mai, I would suggest hiring a driver to take you to Lampang, which is only 80 km away. Head to Wat Nang Liao and see Luang Por Ya for multiple yantras. That's the special inside plus with Luang Por Ya being in Lampang. There's never too many people there and you can ask for multiple yantras. Monks usually give what they want each visit, but it doesn't hurt to ask for multiple ones. In this case though, it may hurt to ask.

When you become a disciple of any monk, you should donate what you can & want (before receiving the tattoo). Temples usually have standard costs around 70 baht, some flowers, and incense. Giving 100 to 1,000,000 baht is fine if you want to donate more, it all goes to your ajarn who uses it to eat and live daily at the temple. A good rule of thumb is don't show up to Wat Bang Phra in Gucci loafers and donate 70 baht. The monks won't judge you, but all the disciples and temple dogs, cats & roosters may heckle you in Thai. This is more of a rule for Thai people as tourists and foreigners get a pass.

Bring some fruit juices or coconut milk to donate to the monks you choose to teach you. Because in theory and in belief, you want to keep your ajarn healthy because all of the powers that get bestowed upon you in sak yant, comes from your ajarn. When you need to re-up your powers because you didn't follow the "Sak Yant Golden Rules," you need your ajarn healthy. Golden rules include rules such as, don't curse at your parents (ever) and never have sex with a menstruating woman. The reasons why, we'll speak of in a future post because rules differ from each grand master and there are only a handful of grandmasters each century.

If you decide to become a disciple of a wicca practioner such as Ajarn Noo Kanpai like Angelina Jolie, then they usually have a price list. Each yantra has a different price, most likely according to the difficulty of the sak yant and the powers it yields. I've heard that recently, yantras from Ajarn Noo Kanpai costs over 750 STEEM or over $1500 USD. Not all sak yants costs this much and it depends on the abilities of the master. Ajarn Noo Kanpai just has Angelina Jolie on his side as a loyal disciple so one can say that the art of Thai magic definitely worked for her.

There are guru monks all across Thailand who specialize in different powers. You would love it and at the very least the meditation masters. Preferably those who are famous for amulets too is really cool. My 1st ajarn Luang Por Koon actually collected a 10-year debt from me and jacked into one of my astral jumps. I had to return to Wat Baan Rai, do a great deed and so my journey in Thai Buddhism began that day. Hope to be reading about yours one day soon my friend :)
