When people come to Thailand for the first time, they usually do the standout provinces first. Provinces such as Chiang Mai, Krabi and the capital city Bangkok. At some point on the Bangkok leg of the trip, everyone ends up on Khaosan Road. My guests' first time in Thailand was no different.
My sister in law, a childhood friend, and niece were visiting for the first time from Los Angeles and I somehow bamboozled them into eating a fried frog. We went out for a quick few rounds of drinks and brought some fried frogs home with us from Khaosan Road. I've eaten many things around the world and most frogs I've eaten has some type of recipe to it. It didn't have one this time.

For myself, the taste of the frog meat had a kick to it. It could also be that these are smaller than the frogs I normally run across stir-fried in garlic or done in curry. My friend N wasn't in the room when I ate mine so she didn't see my face.

She probably wouldn't have done it if she did but I must say that she took it like a champ. Impressively, she did it with a straight face and we weren't even that drunk.
It's one of those adventurous things that people do when they're on vacation. Eat the craziest things they can find that normally wouldn't be available to them. For us, I had to eat fried frogs and a few other insects, because we ended up on Khaosan Road.
