This post is part of a series following my friends and I crossing Sri Lanka in a Tuktuk. You can find the intro post here and the previous one here.

We started our trip in the morning with the hike to the top of Lion's rock, in Sigiriya. It's one of two tall rocks (350m high) standing alone in the middle of a scenery of low hills. Because of this Lion's rock was a holly site and a temple was erected on its top 1500 years ago.

We can still see the ruins of its walls and after climbing halfway to the top, the legs of the huge lion statue that guarded its entrance.

I don't do too good with heights so I let @balourdos95 and @jordan-tainan climb to the top. Check their blogs to see the nice view from up there.

After that
we hopped back into our Tuktuk on the way to Kandy. We stopped along the way for some local coconut juice, that tasted quite different as it was a bit fermented.

Next stop was a Spice Garden, we saw many on the side of the road and we're curious to see what they had. It was a bit touristy but quite interesting, focused on spices used in Ayurveda medicine and their effects. We even had a nice massage before heading out.

We finally arrived in Kandy, the holly city home of the tooth of Buddha. You may know it as a city-state in Civilization 6 ^^

We were lucky to arrive late enough to see them open the stupa in which the tooth is hidden, and see locals and pilgrims give their offerings.

After a nice dinner and cocktails we went back to the hotel relatively early, to prepare for the next day and the road to Nuwura Eliya.
