An Arabian Adventure

in #travel7 years ago

I was fortunate enough to have traveled to the country of Jordan in the Middle East this past week. The country consists of a population that is around 90% Muslim. I first noticed when I agreed to switch seats with a man on the plane who then invited me to spend time with his family at his home in Amman just for doing so. Never before have I felt so welcome amongst strangers. I was greeted by everyone with the common greeting of "As-Salamu Alaykum", which has a literal translation of May Peace be upon your family, and "Habibi", which may have been a little more odd but has a literal translation of my love. If only the world was as accepting, respectful, and welcoming as the people of whose Muslim culture I was fortunate enough to experience.13912341_1375356962478767_3711326621372556636_n.jpg13925187_1375405922473871_7562486836123285995_n.jpg13887020_1375356769145453_519162276357615019_n.jpg13872830_1375356855812111_2828327370957465029_n.jpg
