in #travel7 years ago

Hi it's my first Steem blog travel story. :D Hope you enjoy it.

this weekend me and my friend, we went to K-Drama Dokkebi (Goblin) Tour, East Sea.

Let us introduce Dokkebi (Goblin) Drama plot shortly, just for people who does not know about it.

In ancient times, Kim Shin (GonU) is an unbeatable general in wars, but the young King (Kim Min-Jae) is jealous of Kim Shin and kills him. Kim Shin becomes Dokkaebi (Goblin), possessing an immortal life. At first he thinks that he is blessed, but he realizes that he is cursed.

Closer to the present day, Kim Shin has waited 900 years for a human bride to end his immortal life. One night, he saves a dying pregnant woman (Park Hee-Von) who is destined to die. Meanwhile, the Grim Reaper (Lee Dong-Wook) is unable to find the dead pregnant woman. The woman gives birth to a baby girl named Ji Eun-Tak (later played by Kim Go-Eun). 9 years later, Ji Eun-Tak lives with her mother and is able to see ghosts. One night, her mother suddenly dies. On that night, she meets the Grim Reaper.

In the present day, Ji Eun-Tak is a high school student. She still sees ghosts and hears their whisper of “Dokkaebi’s bride.” She now lives with her aunt’s family, but she is mistreated by them. On her birthday, Ji Eun-Tak sits by the sea with a lighted birthday cake. At that time, Kim Shin suddenly appears in front of her. Kim Shin does not know why, but he can hear her voice and appears in front of her against his will. Coincidentally, Kim Shin lives with the Grim Reaper at the same house.

Now, Kim Shin appears in front of her against his will, whenever she turns off the lights. One day, Ji Eun-Tak tells him that he is Dokkaebi and she is his bride.

That’s brief story about Dokkebi (Goblin) K-Drama

We left from Seoul to East Sea (Jumunjin) where goblin drama filmed. It is about 280km away from Seoul and takes about 4 hours (depends on traffic situation).

We took a rest at Munmak service station. It is located in the middle of the journey.

Mumak is located at Gangwondo where is famous of potatoes and buckwheat. Therefore, in Munak you should try makguksu (buckwheat noodles).

When we arrived at Jumunjin, we directly headed to Adul Bawui. It is located not far away from Jumunjin port where Dokkebi (Goblin) K-Drama was filmed.

Adul means Son in Korean and Bawui means rock in Korean. It has a legendary story. This rock was said to have evolved 150 million years ago during the Jurassic period. Then, the rock was cut by waves and the wind so that it became this strange shape. Because of this strange shape, people came to this rock and started to wish their wishes. One day, a middle aged couple who didn’t have any children, wished and prayed for a son to the rock. After they got a son. Since after this scenario, people started to call this rock as Adul Bawui. This rock has many other names also. Some says it’s an Elephant rock because its shape looks like an elephant, some says this rock grant people’s wishes so call it as a wish rock and some says this rock looks alike to a cow and call it as a Cow Rock. Anyway, it has beautiful atmosphere. You can breathe Ocean odor and feel relax by calm waves sound.

We were hungry so we stopped at Fish Market (Seafood Market). Here you can bargain price with merchants and probably will be the cheapest price you could find in Korea. The seafood and fish are fresh. Merchants are nice and kind. You can buy fish in the market and eat at a restaurants. The service fee will be charged per person so don’t be surprised. Also, you can demand to merchant to cut fishes and take out eat somewhere else. (Fish cutting fee will be charged 5,000)

Then we finally went to where Goblin filmed sites. Jumunjin Sea Wall. Where Gongyoo (Dokkaebi) gave a buckwheat flower to Kim Goeun (Ji Euntak)

This Jumunjin Seawall is now became famous place because of Dokkebi (Goblin) K-Drama. It is where Dokkebi (GongU) and Ji Euntak (Kim Goeun) meets several times. You can find in episode 1,3,6,9…and in many other Dokkebi (Golbin) drama. It is one of the most special place in Dokkebi drama. It showed as an important scene because it is where Dokkebi (GongU) propose to Ji Euntak (Kim Goeun) by giving buckwheat flowers. It symbolize lovers. And where GongU and Kim Goeun speak off each other’s worries. In addition, whenever Jumunjin introduces, you could finally understand scenario like put puzzle pieces together.

You can feel dash sounds of waves and calm wind to your skin. Beautiful place to take pictures. (It is nice especially if you are a couple).

Our final destination was Woljeongsa Forest Trails. It is introduced on Dokkebi (Goblin) Drama Episode 9 where GongU (Dokkebi) and Kim Goeun (Ji Euntak) meet again. It showed with white snow and beautiful small road made naturally in middle of forest.

The photo above is entrance of Woljeongsa Forest trails. You will across bridge where stream flows under. Right after, you will find where introduced in Dokkebi (Goblin) K Drama scene filmed.

In there, you can find natural exhibitions. (We will keep it as secret, please find them and enjoy beauties). The forest trails continues and it is about 2 km long (round trip).

At the end of this forest, you can find historical place called Woljeongsa.

Woljeongsa Temple is located in a forested valley east of Odaesan Mountain, and is in charge of over 60 temples and 8 monasteries in the area. Woljeongsa Temple was established by Monk Ja Jang (590-658). Woljeongsa Temple is also the site of Seongbo Museum, displaying artifacts and treasures from Buddhist culture of the Goryeo Dynasty (918-1392), including a nine-story octagonal pagoda, also called as the Sari-Pagoda (relic pagoda), and a Stone Seated Buddha figure. Also there is the Jeokmyeolbogung where Buddha’s bones are said to be preserved, and the large sermon hall Jeokgwangjeon Pavilion. Usually in a Jeokgwangjeon Pavilion the Vairocana figure is enshrined, but it is interesting that the Sakyamuni figure is enshrined at Jeokgwangjeon Pavilion at Woljeong temple.

At this trip, we could enjoy fresh Forest air, Sounds of birds singing in the forests, sounds of trees dancing with wind blows, ocean salty odor and sounds of calm dash of waves. We could say it was a wonderful experience. We really recommend to people who would like to rest and heal their mind and body.
