Fish stew and a horse stud

in #travel2 years ago
Another day in Osijek Croatia was filled with plenty of interesting activity. Firstly, we took a stroll into town to thr restaurant where we would be eating dinner that evening. On a roaring fire out the front was a big pot of what would be our meal boiling and bubbling away furiously. It was supposed to cook like this for the whole day and hours later, this quite greasy fish stew was served up to us. The locals love it and even though it was nice, being so rich, one could not eat a lot of it. Big paper bibs were also necessary as the rich vibrant orange of what I think was paprika stained any vunerable clothing in a flash.
Boarding a Mercedes that had been beautifully restored by its adoring owner, we travelled to a Lippizzaner horse stud, where we were given a tour which contained plenty of information on the history and breeding of this famous breed. Watching the horses go throuh their paces in the training arena was fascinating. Getting up close and patting these mild natured horses was also a bit of fun.
After visiting the horse stud it was time to head back for our eagerly anticipated fish stew dinner.
