Most people get to see the ships going through the locks, and I have on other trips to Panama, this time my son @hilarski took be to a spot along the canal where you could stand right on the bank and get up close and personal. I even got to wave to the navigators on the bridge of this ship going through the canal towards the Atlantic Ocean and Colon. The aerial view of the ships in the ocean were taken as I flew into Panama.
I am still amazed at the amount of shipping containers are stacked onto these huge vessels. I can't even imagine how much weight that might be. WowZa!
This last photo was taken at the Port of Colon where some ships come to be unloaded. This is also the port where most of the cruise ships dock to let passengers debark to enjoy some adventures in Panama. Thank you for stopping by my post, I hope you enjoyed seeing the cargo ship up close as much as I did.
Until next time, this is Sunscape...
Sun. Scape. Ing your day
One of the most astonishing fact that there is a height difference of 2 oceans.
Absolutely true, I have always found that interesting too.
panama is kool ya'll enjoy
I always enjoy visiting the different provinces each time I come. My son lives in Panama west and tries to take me somewhere new each visit.
I really like the photo of all the ships waiting their turn to go through the canal. I have a similar one and remember seeing them when flying into and out of Tocumen and Albrook airports in Panama City several years ago. I used they photo I took of them for my smartphone background image for quite some time.
Great that you got to see the ships traversing the locks up close and in detail.
I am so glad you shared your story with me. I love seeing the ships every time I fly into Tocumen airport. It amazes me how many sit out there waiting for their turn to enter the canal. Thanks for commenting and I am glad you liked the post.

Que buenas fotografías. Me gustaría conocer el canal de Panamá. Mi tatarabuelo conoció a mi tatarabuela trabajando en en el canal.
How wonderful of your great grandfather to have worked for the canal. Thank you for liking my photos.
In a storm, many of those shipping containers end up in the ocean. Globally, Ten thousand containers are lost at sea each year. Some loaded with plastic and don't sink right away, becoming a hazard to navigation.
Wow, that is a scary fact @rebel-investor I would never have imagined that.
This was an interesting article with nice pictures! Looking forward to more from you!
