Mediterranean Road Trip: Welcome To The Côte d'Azur! 📷

A tramp, a gentleman, a poet, a dreamer, a lonely fellow, always hopeful of romance and adventure. - Charlie Chaplin

That's me, Charlie!

What would life be without going on adventure?

The Roadtrip Of My Life

It was in August 2015 when I did the most exciting road trip so far.

I traveled by car from the East Coast of Italy to the South Coast of Spain, along the French Riviera: 2,700 km in five days. This trip was definitely one of the most beautiful experiences I've ever made.

Besides the adventure thirst there was always some adrenaline running through my venes, since at the end of the trip there was a ferry scheduled which was supposed to take me from Spain to Canary Islands.

I had to be there after five days in any case. Otherwise I would lose the connection home!

These were my milestones: Pescara (starting point) | Pisa | Genoa (overnight) | Monaco | Nice | Cannes | Saint-Tropez | Marseille | Montpellier (overnight) | Perpignan | Barcelona | Valencia (overnight) | Alicante | Malaga (overnight) | Cadiz  🚣

What I appreciated most along the way was the diversity in landscapes.

The French Riviera was definitely one of the most beautiful places.

I loved the combination of wooden cliff lines on one side and wide beaches on the other side. Nice, Monaco and Saint-Tropez are simply overwhelming! If you haven't been there still, I'd highly recommend you to visit these destinations.

We are the sum of our experiences, so I am grateful that these extraordinary spots became some of the tiny puzzle pieces of my life's journey.

Pisa | What is wrong here?

Monaco | Checking the marina

Saint-Tropez | Feeling the summer groove

Valencia | Roof top pool action

Barcelona | Coffee at "La Rambla"

Spain's South-East Coast | Beacher

Malaga | Appreciating the hotel gym

Cadiz | Happy moment: I made it!  🚣

Excellent, thank you very much for the corrections!!!
Seems that my concentration went down at the end of the article and I was just too excited to click on the PUBLISH button :-))

You're welcome

@surfermarley, you have a beautiful body. Surfing does a body good. surf on!

Oh, thank you for the cute compliment!!! :-)
Actually in that period of time I wasn't surfing too much since there were no waves in Italy. But supposedly the Italian climate and food did a good job was well :D

What an amazing adventure!! I'm definitely a surfer Marley fan!! Steem on!!
And the map, tracing your trip, really aids the post! Totally the best trip I've heard of yet!!
And the photo's are awesome as well!!

Oh that's sweet! Thank youso much :-)))
You've motivated me to publish more traveling posts!

I just created a folder entitled, "great articles." This article will be the first one in the folder.

Thanks for stopping by and taking your time to comment.

Wow that is pretty impressive route that you did there! Road trips are always the best :) I lived in Nice for a summer, and Azzure Coast is just beautiful natural wonder. I am glad you enjoyed :)

Oh wow, lucky you! I'm sure you had a great time in Nice.
When I passed through it was quite hot (around 40 degrees Celsius), that was the only thing I didn't appreciate too much...
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you're going to have a great weekend :-)

Côte d' Azur yeah..one of the best places, esp Grassé and St. Paul de Venes.Did you go to these places from Nice?
Ah La Rambla..where there's loads of pick-pockets ;) what's the name of the market there?

I guess you mean "La Boqueria" at La Rambla?
In France I didn't have much time to discover the places in detail since I had to keep on driving to reach my final destination on time. So I didn't see these two you mentioned unfortunately.... But hey, maybe I'll travel there again some day :-)

Nice is a cool place to stay and do daytrips..fragonard perfumery is in Grassé if ure into perfumes. St. Paul is the most exotic in SOF for me :)

Oh it seems that you are an expert, huh? :) The next time I'll travel to France I'll ask you previously :-)
Have a great weekend!

Haha no am not, i just love those places and am sure most do too. Steem on Marly!!

What a trip! A lot of people (myself included) envy that kind of freedom. My wife's younger sister is single and she travels a lot. Right now I believe she is in the Dominican Republic with a friend. My wife and I cannot do extensive traveling at this time due to raising kids, but once they are older we want to get out and see more things together.

Don't envy these trips. There will be the right point of time for it.
You have something that is worth much more than any holidays: a family :-)

I agree with you, and thank you!

That sounds like one awesome trip! Thanks for sharing

It was! Thank YOU for stopping by :-)

Nice adventure. Thats the most important thing in life, be wild and free. Love your trip. See u around.

Thanks!!
I couldn't agree more! That's IT :)
See you there!

Awesome trip! And many places I recognize from being a kid and going there (Cote d'Azur, St. Tropez) and from living there during my teens (Costa del Sol)... fun to think of these again!

I am happy that the story refreshed some of your childhood memories :-)
Thanks for taking the time and commenting!

Wow! Inspired! Im sure you're enjoying your trip very very much so far. And I see you've been sticking to the coastline, I wonder why is that? :P

Haha, you got me! I am so addicted to the Ocean, I just can't leave it for too much time :-)

Awesome trip sweet! I dream with long roads trips! the idea of discovering little places by stopping everywhere but where you had planned to stop :-)
I have been driving in America many times (Love it!) but the one I remember the most was when driving from Manchester to Ibiza in a little peugot 206, what a laugh !!

Oh great!!! I love road trips, too. The freedom to drive wherever you want and stop at the places you like is just incredible. I've done one in the US, too: the typical West Coast trip from San Francisco to LA :-)
Yours from Manchester to Ibiza sounds really fun!!!

Loved your post and feel as though I went along on the trip too!

That's the maximum I might achieve! Great :-))
And thanks for stopping by!!

Love it! Will have to hit you up for travel tips when I eventually do the same.
