ULTIMATE TRAVEL - Scuba Diving in Cozumel

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

Cozumel is about scuba diving.

Some of the best scuba in the Northern Hemisphere of the planet...

Also for me, the little island of Cozumel is much more serene and relaxing for a vacation, than Cancun across the water, a ferry ride away.

We dived at a place called “Punta Sur” and it was an 80ft dive, which is very deep for amateurs, thus we could only stay down there 5 minutes.. and we also decompressed at 20 ft for 1 minute on the way up.

We actually followed the dive master through coral tunnels ; the only time I ever attempted something like that!

Not touching the coral is very important, so he was showing me to dive with my hands crossed in front of me, controlling swimming only with my body and feet.

I like the idea of using airbnb and rent from a local property owner, if you don't know the market and want a smart place to stay. Or look at reviews for local hotels and contact them directly. Book flights with airlines, do it all yourself, and you will have a great time! ;-)

Reputable vacation-rental sites are: HomeAway, FlipKey, or Airbnb, all of which will protect your money from fraudsters.

Cozumel has the best diving toward the southwest of the island. I would recommend Cozumel if you want to see the most colorful coral reefs.

in my country there is also a good place like this, that is in Sabang Aceh, Indonesia. I hope if you have time, come here.

Thanks for the pointer. I will look into Saban Aceh.

I hope you can visit, because this is where I live

Hey @surfyogi ok..so We have a Company meeting down there in December is this a bad time to Snorkel in Cozumel and also..Should i start Working on my Breathing or any techniques?

Most of the diving sites in Cozumel are too deep for a snorkel (usually limited to 20ft with a snorkel).

ANY TIME OF YEAR IS GREAT in Cozumel!!

If you want to scuba, you need to be certified as a PADI diver before you go. Get certified now!

If you want to travel and scuba, buy your own fins, mask, snorkel, gloves, wetsuit, BC.
Then it is much cheaper to dive with a professional company organizing outings.

Cozumel is very competitive for scuba diving and you should be able to get a very good price if all they need to do is rent you an air tank and get you out to the dive site.
You can hire a boat and rent a tank of air yourself and save a lot of $$$.

a very interesting experience, I love to dive, when I dive, I always feel different happiness, as if all my burden is gone.

I agree. It's like singing; we are forced to be in the moment, and we experience a kind of Zen.

we will seek happiness in our own way.

Experience interesting friends, I hope one day you can visit and enjoy the underwater beauty of the island of Sabang, Aceh, Indonesia :)

Thanks for sharing @surfyogi

excellent post brother, good information a big greeting @joserc.vzla

Scuba diving is always on my check list, is just that it is not happening. Might be a proper planning has to be done on my travel so that I can keep it on my bucket list of things to be done.

@surfyogi Beautiful picture brother. I am certified for 15m. Scuba diving truly is another world and I'm thankful I have the experience. Living vicariously through you brother :) All the best

I went scuba diving in Dubai couple months ago, man, it's one of the best experience ever!!

The only boat dive I ever went on was a wreck in Hawaii in 100 feet of water. We were certified to 66 feet, but could go to 100 with the dive master. We too had a safety stop. I'm so glad I didn't know what was floating in the water around me on that safety stop until I got out of the water. There were probably 15 uncertified people who were on the boat waiting for the second 30 foot dive. They had been fed lunch. Nuff said.

Great topic @surfyogi
Thanks for sharing

scube diving is on my MUST DO something . Must have been amazing to see the world from another angle.

Wonders of the underwater world!

Interesting experience .... What about the underwater beauty of the island of Mexico ?

scuba is my list to do , next year i am planning to go thailand

I've seen pictures of Cozumel before and it looks absolutely beautiful. It definitely does look like a great place to go on holiday and not only soak up the great with but also the vibrant life in the water.

I've never had the pleasure of going scuba diving. I hope I will be able to experience this one day as it will definitely be a day that I will cherish forever.

I guess if I ever have an opportunity to go I'll be sure to use your reputable sites. I usually use airbnb but I'll try out HomeAway and FlipKey in case I can find cheaper rates @surfyogi

I've never dived but I enjoy snorkeling very much. I love tropical fish. One time I had 11 aquariums in a 2 bedroom apartment, that got out of hand. Cheers @surfyogi

that feeling when you are in a new world ........ you are really enjoying your life ....great post

Diving is an amazing hobby!

I have thought about learning and may do one day. I don't need to go real deep. I know some guys that do it with metal detectors that do pretty well.

I have never done scuba diving in my life but I am still young enough to try it. I am happy you enjoyed it very much. That feeling is the ultimate and thoughtlessness comes with it very easily.
