I Saw The Northern Lights Yesterday - Aurora Borealis

in #travel7 years ago

Wow. Just wow. I don’t think this post needs a lot of words.

A weekend in the Lofoten islands in Norway turned out to be a good idea.

Seeing the Northern Lights was just something else. If you ever get the chance to go to Norway, you should do it!

Looks very nice @Susanne
I am planing a aurora borealis trip next winter. Got to get me some nice pictures of it!!!

Thank you. This was only taken on my phone, so it’s not very good. But live it was beautiful.

Wow! I have seen the Northern lights a few times here in Finland when I have visited Lapland. And actually I have spotted them here in Southern Finland too (which is funny because they are more common in North). They are absolutely worth seeing!

You did? I love Finland.

I agree. Definitely worth seeing.

Yes! But cannot spot those that often here in South than in Northern Finland.
Don´t have a photo of my own, but found this from visittampere.com (Tampere is a city here in Southern Finland, https://visittampere.fi/article/revontulet-tampereella)

Wow it must be beauitful!! It's so mysteriously fascinating!

Just make sure you go there in the cold half of the year if you want to experience this amazing sight.. going to northern Norway in summer time will instead give you midnight sun :)

Nice pictures, Norway is truly enchanting!

It's been a dream of mine to see the Aurora Borealis since I was a kid.

No way!! I've always wanted to see the Northern Lights! That's on my bucket list! Your photos are awesome!

Just Whoo! jealous, nice you were able to see it

It would be amazing to see the Auroras. I have never been able to experience them!

Nice, I saw it from Trondheim as well, but not clearly enough to be visible on a cellphone photo.

Absolutely beautiful landscape. I've always wanted to see the Northern Lights. I think it's one of the most beautiful phenomena on Earth.

Lofoten islands look so great..
Thanks for sharing this sweet photos..
Enjoy your time..
Have a great weekend..

Fantastic scenery!

I've only had one occasion to see the aurora borealis. It was on Halloween back in the mid 1990's, here in New England. Just the perfect mix of a geomagnetic storm.

This was before cellphones and their cameras so it is captured only in memory, but what a sight to behold!

Oh, my gosh, I totally want to witness the Northern Lights someday! How awesome that you got to, girlie! :D

Flaks du fikk se nordlyset! Kjempefine bilder! :)

Wow- am new here and just found your site, but the places you go and the things you eat are incredible! And I have always longed to see the northern lights, as well as northern Scandinavia. I am looking forward to seeing your journeys in the future! Thanks!

I must photography this Northern Lights too one day :)

it's an awesome experience
I just saw three months ago the Aurora borealis but in Iceland, it was so cold, but it's totally worth it

Absolutely breathtaking!

Wooww great pictures ...I always hear Norway to really be a beautiful place

Hahahahaha...I don't think I will refuse the chance of going to Norway

It really doesn't need any words, seems like the place to be:))

Cheers!

Hey Susanne!

Some of my friends recently returned from Norway and were a little disappointed with the Northern Lights. Were the lights you saw white or intermittent colours? Apparently all the photos of the Lights we see are of time lapse or adjusted so that all the colours appear in the one image.

What was your experience of the colours like?

Cheerio.
Nick.

Your friends can’t have seen much of the northern lights if they weren’t impressed. The thing is, you can go there for two weeks and not see anything, or like me, see this the first night, my picture is taken with my iPhone and is not a time lapse.

The first time I saw the northern lights I cried. That’s how spectacular it is. They must have seen 2 % of it and one with no colors. Too bad, because it can be spectacular, and ever dance across the skies with many colors in it. This one in my pic was a small and rather boring one.
