Rajgir is a very popular destination located in Nalanda District in the Indian State of Bihar. The city was in a valley surrounded by seven hills: Vaibhara, Ratna, Saila, Sona, Udaya, Chhatha and Vipula. This was the first capital of the kingdom Magadha, a state that would eventually evolve into the Mauryan Empire. This place is also mentioned in many of the Buddhist and Jain scriptures.Rajgir is also famous for its association with kings Bimbisara and Ajatashatru. Ajatashatru kept his father Bimbisara in captivity here and also credited with moving the capital to Pataliputra(modern Patna).
DURATION OF THE TRIP:- It was a 2 days and 1- night trip. it takes 3 hours to reach Rajgir from Barauni.
DETAILS OF TOUR:- After reaching Rajgir, we stopped at a place that place is famous for its peda.peda is a kind of sweet made from milk. I never had such delicious Peda in my life before. we 9my entire family) ate few Peda and packed some or our relatives in our hometown and again started for Rajgir. After reaching there at 12:30 am we headed to the HOTEL SIDDHARTHA INTERNATIONAL
(Opp Old Japanese Temple)
(Near Hot Spring, Nalanda, Bihar).
We are six people in the group. so we booked two bedrooms(3 bed each) at a decent price. the hotel was good and maintained. It had a wonderful restaurant and a little shop at the corner. The shop has a variety of handicrafts and decorative items which looks very attractive.I bought a jewellery from there. we got to freshen up and had our lunch with kachori, Jalebi, Sabji and salad followed by Tea. The speciality of tea in Rajgir is they burnt charcoal in the milk and prepare tea out of that. it tastes great.
The hotel owner helps us in hiring a Tamtam for our trip. Tamtam is a light carriage or curricle drawn by horses used for transportation in India. Tamtam was decorated like a bride and looks very attractive.
The places we visited were:
BRAHAMAKUNDA is a natural hot water spring. King Bimbisara used to take his bath there sometimes. this spring is believed to be very holy place among Hindus. we all had a plan to take bath in that spring but it was not clean at all and also there is no proper arrangement for ladies. so we drop the plan but we touched the water it was really hot.
SWARNA BHANDAR:- It is hollowed out of a single massive rock. This cave is the treasury of the king Bimbisara, instruction on the wall gives us a clue to open the doorway.
ROPEWAY:- This ropeway is very different from other ropeways. unlike other ropeways, it has only one chair and does not stop anywhere. it takes us to Bishwa Santhi stupa which is situated in the top of the hill and again takes back to the place from where it started. it takes about 6 minutes to reach its destination. it was one of the daring steps for me because I have a very weak heart and never done such task before.
BISHWA SANTHI STUPA:- It is designed to provide a focus for people of all races and creeds and to help unite them in their search for world peace. It was built under the guidance of Nichidastu Fujii, a Buddhist monk from Japan. you can reach here either by ropeway or by the staircase.
This place is always crowded with tourists from all over the world.various small shop decorated with various items attracts you a lot. We ate some Pakodas there. it was really mouth tempting and also buy some handicrafts items and a cute little Buddha. We reached our hotel at 10 PM and had our dinner in the hotel's restaurant and go to sleep.
SECOND DAY
PAWAPURI:- There is a Jain temple in Pawapuri which is located in between a lake. this place is famous as Mahavir Jain has gained his Moksha from this place. this temple is completely white in colour and we all know that white is a colour of peace. we feed some fish there and also got the opportunity of watching wonderful dancing of fish and duck in the pond playing with lotus. we eat ghupchup, a very spicy and delicious Indian street food and some bhunjas. they were really appreciable with that we finished visiting the places and headed to the hotel and checkout from there. on the way, we took a small break at Silau, as the place is very famous for 'KHAJA' a sweet coated with sugar. we ate some and packed more.
Some good shots

BIGGEST REGRET:- Feeling unlucky, we missed an opportunity of visiting VENUVANA and GRIDHAKUTA due to the shortage of time. I heard a lot about the beauty of these places.
we reached Begusarai. We had our authentic Litti -Chokha as dinner followed by Tea. That's all about my trip.
