Deepavali is a festival of Hindu celebrations around the world including Hindus in Kuala Lumpur. A week before the celebration, hindu comonities especially their traders have sold various needs for holy celebrations. One of the traditions prior to the event of the deepvali day is the Night Market in the Brickfield area (Little India). At the night market sells all kinds of cakes and sweets ( laddu) , trinkets of deepavali, various types of clothing( india style), various kinds of jewelry and etc.
Based on the information I get, this deepavali celebration is the celebration for the return of the “God of Rama” after seizing his throne again and when he returned was exceptionally dark, the people of his city lit clay lamps at all their houses, thus lighting the path as he made his way to his throne . Other side, deepavali celebration is for the “ God of Lakshmi”. Certainly there may be various versions of the story of the deepavali and historical festivities behind it.
According to the people living around little india, the deepavali will be held on October 18, 2017 in Malaysia. The greatest celebration will be centered in batu cave and little india. For the steemit community who want to see the deepavali celebration, you can visit to little india in Kuala Lumpur or in batu cave in Selangor, where there are dance festivals, Indian cuisine , various souviner and also various jewelry of women.
