Hello and welcome! My name is Casey Zimmerman and I will be your guide from the busy hubbub of downtown Seattle to the beautiful islands of the Puget Sound. If you want a break from the busy metropolitan cluster of Seattle, follow me as we embark west on the Bainbridge Island Ferry to our first location.
First things first, lets find a good starting spot for our adventure. There are 2 main ways to access the Puget Sound. From Seattle, you can go south to Tacoma, across the Tacoma Narrows bridge and into Gig Harbor. The other way, which we take in our adventure is taking a ferry from the Seattle Ferry Terminal to either Bainbridge Island or Bremerton. Our destination is going to be in Bainbridge Island, so we will be taking the Bainbridge ferry across today.
The Seattle to Bainbridge Island ferry take 35 minutes to cross the Puget Sound and runs about every hour. To check the schedule go to www.wsdot.com/ferries and click your route! Once on the boat, you can grab a beer in the galley, or stroll up to the sunroof and enjoy the wonderful view! You can either walk on, bike on, or drive on the ferry, and since our location is within walking distance from the ferry, any option works.
After the ferry ride you will find yourself in downtown Bainbridge, also known as Winslow by the locals. Where is our first destination in this mystical new land? Our first course of action? Exploring the local cuisine! After a scenic 15 minute walk through a quaint downtown we will arrive at our location 231 Parfitt Way, the Bainbridge Public House. Nestled on the beach of Eagle Harbor, the Pub is the go to spot for lunch and dinner on the island. The Pub is open 11am - Midnight, has an exquisite menu (You HAVE to try the oysters), and amazing outside seating with fantastic views. They also offer a wide variety of cocktails and local brews and a great happy hour menu.
