Let me introduce to you Pensacola Beach

in #travel7 years ago

This technically isn't somewhere I've traveled to, since I live here, but it's a popular tourist destination that I wanted to share with you all. And I do believe it's popular for a reason. :) Photos are my own.

Pensacola

The city itself isn't the main reason people come here, but it is a rather charming city in and of itself. Featuring a rich history and fantastic museums, there's plenty here to explore. And Downtown features many pleasant restaurants and coffee shops to enjoy.

Pensacola Beach

The tourism destination, Pensacola Beach is one of the few places in the world with such pristine white beaches. While the main beaches are there if you like the buzz, it's just a few minutes trip to more isolated locations where you can relax in peace.

Fort Pickens

At the end of Pensacola beach is the historical Fort Pickens. One of only three southern bases to not join the Civil War, it still stands today and is almost completely open to the public. Unfortunately hurricane Ivan several years back caused some parts of it to close down. If camping is your thing, there are some campgrounds within walking distance of the fort.
