Wat Phra Kaew Don Tao Suchadaram, a fascinating ancient temple, in Lampang province, in the North of Thailand

in #travel10 months ago

Wat Phra Kaew Don Tao Suchadaram is an ancient temple which is more than a thousand years old.

The highlight of this temple is Phra Borommathat Don Tao which is a large Lanna architecture chedi (pagoda). It looks outstanding with the golden color of the body and white color at the base.

The importance of this chedi is that it contains the hair relics of His Majesty the Lord Buddha.

This chedi is the symbol of this temple.

Another architectural highlight of this temple is Phra Mondop which is in front of Phra Borommathat Don Tao.

It is a Burmese castle-shaped building, classified as the most beautiful Burmese castle-shaped Mondop in Lampang.

The castle's top is carved with intricate wood carvings and decorate the ceiling and pillars with wood carvings and stained glass.

Inside the Mondop is the significant Buddha statue named “Phra Bua Khem” which is a replica of the Buddha statue in Mandalay, Myanma.

Apart from Phra Bua Khem, there are many other sacred Buddha statues for people to worship.

Other chedi and buildings in Wat Phra Kaew Don Tao Suchadaram are also beautiful, such as Phra Viharn of Phra Chao Thong Thip which is another ancient building that is more than 1,000 years old. It’s in Chiang Saen art.

And other magnificent Buddha statues.

Last but not least, the two giant Nagas on both sides of the bridge are majestic and can attract everyone’s eyes….

P.s. I presented the article of Wat Phra Kaew Don Tao Suchadaram 2 years ago. These photos are from a new trip.
