I am a master's student in European Politics in Krakow, Poland, and I recently took a trip back to the United States to visit my family while on university break. I travelled from Krakow to Munich, exploring the Austrian Alps along the way. From Munich, I flew to Denver, Colorado, then down to the Southeast USA and back. The experience was amazing, and I'd like to show you some of the amazing pictures I took along the way!
First, I will start with the city of Krakow, where I now live. Krakow is an amazing city that has been around since the stone age. Many kings of Poland resided here, as did Copernicus who came up with the theory of the solar system!
Meet Rusty, my golden retriever. Here is a picture of him on a side street in Krakow.
After exams were done, we headed to the train station and caught a train to Hallstatt, Austria.
Hallstatt is a small village in the Austrian alps that was once the center of European culture and trade, mainly because of its rich salt mine that dates back to the people of Early Iron Age Europe, c.800–450 BC. Once you get off the train near Hallstatt, you must cross lake Hallstatt on a small ferry in order to get to the town itself.
Once in the town, we checked into our dog friendly AirBNB, and then went to explore the town.
After a good night's rest, we spent several hours the following day hiking in the alps surrounding the lake.
After a day of rest and seeing more of the town, it was time to head to Innsbruck, Austria, a city in the middle of Austria that is a hub for skiers and snowboarders during the winter season. Please follow my account to see the next part of the trip and more of our European adventures.
