LET’S BACKPACK TO PONDICHERRY! – PART 1

in #travel7 years ago

So finally Pondicherry is happening! The long awaited solo (Well, almost) trip of the year. So let’s see what this Oh-so-beautiful city is all about!

They say, Pondicherry or Puducherry is one of the most beautiful and mesmerizing places of South India. The place offers a lot more than one can imagine- beautiful French architecture, stunning views to die for, ample of places to fill in your tummy and gazillion of places to satisfy that shopaholic that we all are!

Oh! And there is a Good News for Solo Travelers :)
One of the best things about Pondicherry is that whether you are a group of girls or a solo traveler, it’s quite safe a place. Yay!

The Weather-
They say, November to February is the best time to visit for Pondicherry and Weather wise it is pleasant until February after which it gets hot. So we barely made it and will enjoy the pleasant weather the city offers.

Reach-ability -
To reach Pondicherry is quite easy. You can take a direct flight from Bangalore and Hyderabad or a connecting flight if you are coming from Delhi, Kochi, Kolkata and Mumbai.
We opted for a Delhi-Chennai flight and will be taking public transport from there! I will share the route and best possible road options in my later blogs.
There are various train options available and several state and private buses for people staying nearby.
If you are planning for a road trip, I don’t think I need to tell you anything as you must be filled with information and research already :P (I can join you though :D )

Stay –
You can choose to stay in Pondicherry or Auroville, both are amazing in their own way. The city offers variety of stay options as per your budget, from luxury beach hotels to affordable homestays to hostels! Take your pick guys.
We booked ourselves Nef’s Home from Airbnb for our stay because I personally love houses more than hotels! Here’s a sneak peek for you guys – Do tell me if you would like to see more! :P

So guys my reach-ability is sorted, my stay is sorted! And to be honest, we have not figured out where to eat and what to do yet.. Yes I know, I know, but I am sure it is going to be a fun filled experience in its own way. And hey! It’s a French Paradise so I am pretty sure there will be loads of bakeries and cakeries to fill me up with sweets ;)

Hang in there guys, I am soon going to put up a backpacker’s guide and some fun tips that we can all use on the go! Let us say - To pack or not to pack list!

And you are all welcome to share anything that you know about Pondicherry, eating joints, some hidden gems, must visit places, anything!
Till then, signing off Populus! :)
