San Pedro prison Bolivia (the prison that became a town)

in #travel7 years ago

This is a prison in Bolivia that is basically like a village. Where it is managed, and people have their families in there. They have their own, more extreme set of rules to normal society. So things run generally smoothly, for a bunch of criminals. You can pay to go enter and visit. I don't normally like tours but it is probably a good idea to get a tour guide here and be in a group, since it is a bunch of criminals. Kind of like paying for protection. It is just like a normal town with schools and restaurants. This place is very interesting to me. If you are jailed here you have more money you can get a better place to stay. I guess not enough to bribe their way out!
