Hello Steemy people !
Here is part #3 of my Moroccan series, and today we are going to Yves St Laurent's little haven in the buzzing city of Marrakesh : Jardin Majorelle.
This garden was purchased by Pierre Bergé and Yves St Laurent in 1980. They didn't buy it to make a fruitful investment, but to save it from destruction, since a real estate company had put its grasp on it and was going to destroy this piece of art.
It is very famous for its unique blue tint : majorelle blue, named after the artist who initially created the garden.
Now this experience !
We only queued for about 5 minutes, and even though we were in the sun and 40 degrees Celcius heat, water was sprayed every 10 seconds and it was very pleasant.
As soon as we got in, it became quiet and cooler than outside. It felt like entering an enchanted forest. There were little birds tweeting and that was it.
We walked around and went in the Museum that used to be the artist's workshop. They made it into a Berber culture museum, it was absolutely fascinating. You could see so much of their history. I think I may have stayed there for an hour, just admiring everything, especially the traditional garments and jewellery. So beautiful.
It was amazing, every corner has something new, something beautiful to see.
After walking around and taking pictures, we decided to have tea. We sat in the café and it was so pleasant that we even had lunch there.
I was able to order some vegan food and let me say it was delicious.
Overall we stayed for about 3 hours, but time flew by. I would go again !
Have you ever been ?
