The Hamburg Michel - EN
Hello friends,
after the Alster round trip and the stay on the water I would like to go with you in the height and visit the well-known "Hamburger Michel". The "Hamburger Michel" or really pronounced - evangelical main church St. Michaelis, is one of the most famous landmarks of Hamburg and known far beyond the city limits.
The church is dedicated to the Archangel Michael, whose statue above the main portal is depicted in battle with Satan. The church had to be completely rebuilt twice and today's reconstruction is from 1912, since the church burnt down in 1906.
The church tower is 132.14 metres high and has a viewing platform from which you can see all of Hamburg and the harbour. The ascent to the viewing platform costs a few Euros, but they are well invested due to the fantastic view. The interior with the nave can be visited free of charge, but a small donation is requested.
The following link leads to the homepage of St. Michaelis with more information. A special of the website is the gallery and a Livecam of the church tower which shows Hamburg from above.
