Tucked away in the heart of California's Napa Valley wine country, not only will you find world class wineries and some of the most stunning Real Estate on Earth, but you'll also find this beautiful Medieval marvel.
And yes,....I dare to say Authentic Castle.
Taking over 30 years to construct, and over 500 shipping containers of bricks, tiles, authentic furnishings, and other old things from Europe, Castello Di Amarosa is a labor of love. The owner, Dario Sattui, has poured his life's ambitions into making his dream a reality.
What couldn't be imported was hand made using tools and techniques exactly as it would have been during the medieval time period. Over 8,000 tons of stone was quarried and hand chiseled to construct the castle.
Castello Di Amarosa has won awards for it's historical accuracy which has remained faithful the architecture that was common in the 12th and 13th centuries.
You'll find a courtyard and dinning hall that hosts events and corporate gatherings
Hand crafted wood furniture that were common during the period
Other features include a real dungeon complete with torture chamber and devices, defensive towers, a chapel (that held a weekly Catholic Mass until they were ordered to cease due to lack of permits), a draw bridge....
And of course the wine cellar located in the catacombs beneath the castle.
What better place can you do wine tasting than inside a real castle?
And don't forget to bring the kids. Grape juice is offered to people under the age of 21
Castello Di Amarosa truly highlights the beauty of the Napa Valley wine country of California
Wow - right under everyones noses
