Hey, friends! Today I'm going to share my another travel story with you. Today I'll take you on a trip to Ram Tirth temple with me. Ram Tirth Temple is among the prime tourist attractions of Amritsar. A journey of 15 kilometers from Amritsar will take you to this beautiful site where you can see the beautifully sculptured temple located in the middle of a lake.
Location And History Of Temple
This temple is famous for its incredible religious importance, and it attracts a large number of visitors and devotees every day. This holy place has a captivating history also. It is said that Lord Ram and his wife Sita blessed this place. The meaning of Ram Tirth is "Pilgrimage of God Rama." It's also believed that Maharishi Valmiki (Great teacher in ancient time) wrote the Ramayana (The holy book of Hindus) at this place where this temple is built. It is also believed that this is the same location where Rama and Sita's twin sons (Love-Kush) were born. This place was the hermitage (ashram) of holy saint Maharishi Valmiki where he taught his students and also the sons of Rama and Sita (Love-Kush).
Mata Sita came at Hermitage of Maharishi Valmiki after Rama abandoned her. She gave birth to Love and Kush here and raised them under the supervision of Maharishi Valmiki. Maharishi Valmiki made them capable in the domains of religious and social life and also in the complexities of fighting. In the temple, there is a cottage where Mata Sita lived with her sons.
The exterior design of this temple is wonderful as you can see in the picture. This temple is precisely located right in the middle of the holy lake. As much as it is beautiful from the outside, the interior design of the temple is also very exquisite.
The view of the roof top of temple. The beauty of this roof is enhanced by this beautiful roof chandelier.
This is the statue of Maharishi Valmiki. It is made of gold and weighs about 800kg. The cost of this Satue is 2 billion Indian Rupees. It is said that this memorable statue will keep Valmiki's life, teachings, and his thinking alive throughout the world and along with it will help to keep the rich legacy of the great master alive.
Then as I was walking further, I saw this beautiful flower in the temple area. Its fascinating color and freshness grabbed my eyes so I decided to click a picture of this flower too.
This is a photo of a well with stairs that I clicked inside the temple. This is the place where mata Sita used to take bath. Really, this temple is filled with rich history which is also mentioned in Ramayana, the holy book of Hindus.
Many smaller temples are also scattered near this larger temple. There is a place between these temples where Mata Sita gave birth to her twin children Luv-Kush. In this picture you can see the hermitage of Maharishi Valmiki.
It is believed that these are the footprints of Mata Sita which have now been preserved for any visitors to see.
This is the picture of the bed where Sita gave birth to Luv-Kush. This was really fascinating for me as I never expected that something mentioned in the religious text would actually be present.
Here I am sitting in the mouth of an alligator. By the way he didn't eat me. 😛
At the end of the day, I fed some hungry fish. My journey to the Ram tirth temple was simply amazing. Hope you guys also enjoyed the pictures of my journey and that the remarkable information about Indian history gave you some good knowledge.
