Barcelona, a different kind of beautiful

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

Barcelona is by the far, one of the most beautiful cities we have ever visited. The city is filled lots of friendly people, cafés situated outside and amazing architecture.

Arc de Triomf
Built around the 1800s this Arc was used as the main entrance to the Barcelona World Fair. This Arc is beautifully built and is situated at the end of one side of a nice and calming promenade. While on our visit here there were lots of people sitting and relaxing as well as enjoying an awesome view of the Arc.

Sagrada Familia
This is a Catholic cathedral that is still under construction. Designed by Antoni Gaudí, this cathedral is expected to be the tallest cathedral in Europe and is expected to be completed in 2026, celebrating 100 years since the death of its designer. This cathedral is full beautifully sculpted images all around and completely different from what we've ever seen. It has a modern yet gothic since to it which makes it unique from any other cathedral we've ever seen.

Casa Batlló
Antoni Gaudí is a huge part of Barcelona's history. His designs and creations can be seen everywhere throughout the city, one example is Casa Batlló. This building is full oddly shaped balconies and decorated with lots colors and beautiful tiles that kind of make a shape of a dragon (on the roof, if you can see it).

Casa Milà
Also knowns as "La Pedrera", Casa Milà is another creation of Antoni Gaudí. This building initially received a lot of criticism but it is now a recognized world heritage.
