7 Continents: USA - D.C.'s great monuments

in #travel7 years ago

Today I want to show you the art of Washington D.C. Everyone know about the White House and the huge Obelisk. But did you know there are incredible monuments in D. C. too. Their artistic style in wonderful and they feel so impressive and alive.

First the Jefferson memorial, dedicated to the great Thomas Jefferson. It was build in 1938 in an architectural style reminiscent of an antique greek temple.

Next the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial - an incredible man and a fitting artwork to represent him. His Dream changed the world for the better. And it's still alive today with so many things that need to be changed.

Another impressive one is the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial. This one is very complex and actually deserving it's very own post. So today I just show you these 5 men, waiting outside a door for food. It's about the great depression and the hunger among all people. A very hard time and something to remember and be alarmed by.

Today I finish my post with the great Abraham Lincoln. His memorial is in a very prominent position, overseeing the gigantic public space, called the National Mall. His statue is facing the United States Capitol at the other end of that long public space. If ever you come to D.C. you should visit his monument and than take a stroll along all the other monument. It's such an incredible place.
