My mother and younger brother Josh are up from Maine for 12 days so we are taking them to some of the fun touristy places. Santa Monica is always nice. I almost always get a good vibe when I go there. The Promenade and Pier are often to much for me when I go there; but my brother really wanted to go so we had a look.

The train ride there was not to bad. I had a gift certificate for Cheesecake Factory so we had some small dishes then got sick on dessert. We went for a short walk around Santa Monica Place; I love how the top floor is always changing. This indoor jungle gym was awesome; wish I was five again.

From there we went down the promenade; quieter than usual on a Thursday afternoon; but still full of shoppers and performers.

We then went down Palisades Park to the pier; a really lovely walk. I always enjoy the view of the water, the beautiful plants and the people walking by.

The Santa Monica Pier is almost always crazy with activity. Even on a Thursday afternoon the sidwalks were full and the performers were making a small profit.

Of course we had to stop and pose here; we will save those photos for Facebook.

It was a beautiful day; we listened to a performance of "Somebody That I Used to Know" while the seagulls swam crazily in the sky.

We took the train home and had roast veggies and sausage and watched "The Shape Of Water"; a lovely day all around.

The swirly trees are amazing :-)

They were cool; Santa Monica always seems happy.
