Is there anything better than seeing the world with your family?

Travel give us perspective and it’s our hope that it will do the same for our children. A passport and a plane ticket and a plan for adventure feels like the best gift that we can possibly give them.

We want our kids to seek the stories that live just over the horizon, and feel at ease in unfamiliar lands. How else will they truly know that the world has so much more to offer than our daily routines can possibly reveal.

In dancing and in travel, flexibility is key!

To travel with children requires good organization, calmness and a little sense of humor.
As in the motto of US Marines; ADAPT, IMPROVISE, OVERCOME.

The organization is the most important, you need to consider the route well.
My husband is always responsible for this,he's so good at it,the best strategist I know.

I'm the list person.
You should have a list , documents, tickets, medical passports, medicines, toys,
those high-heels shoes that I will never wear.

It will be a great relief if you prepare everything from the day before.
Anyway, something new and unpredictable will always come up.The most important thing is not to panic and stress the people around you.

That was our big move MALTA- BULGARIA- VIENNA- MUNICH- PUNTA CANA - COSTA RICA

luggage

Do not travel with lots of luggage, it makes no sense.
If you are traveling with low-cost companies, hand baggage is limited and for the rest is paid extra.
If your children are big and fly alone, this is an advantage, because they are also entitled to hand luggage.
One more thing, baby carriage and car seat is free and does not enter normal luggage.
It is also a great convenience to have baby sling.
The easiest way will be if you are breastfeeding, but I was not lucky enough and I had bottles and adapted milk.

Baby clothes don't take much space so fill the rest of it with diapers. Believe me, I know from personal experience that sometimes it is not very easy to find diapers. We had this problem in Costa Rica.
Sometimes it will be difficult to find the exact thing you are used to and you will need to adapt.

Leave plenty of time.

While you want to minimize time waiting in line, you certainly don’t want to have to rush. Leave home with hours to spare – if you get to the airport quickly, make use of the play area and get those children exhausted: the more energy they spend on the ground, the less they’ll have in the air.

Be prepared for the climate.

It's simple advice, but children dressed comfortably for the weather and terrain will be happier in a new environment. With all the gear available, there's no excuse for dressing toddlers in ski-suits four sizes too big, forgetting their gloves, or leaving them barefoot on a beach where sea urchins lurk.

On the plain

They should make these for adults as well :))))

Where you can sit on a plane with a small child?

Sitting at the very end of the airplane does mean you’ll disturb fewer people. It also means you can get up and make use of the galley, and have the toilets close by. However, sometimes these seats don’t recline fully, and the back of the aircraft can be noisy.

The middle of the plane gives you the option of using the bulkhead seats. Not only does this mean more legroom – and thus more floor space for play – it also means the possibility of a baby cradle (if the aircraft has them). However – it also means no storage under the seat in front of you.

Sitting at the front is similar to the back, except the kitchen area is typically smaller, and busier. One other thing to consider that really depends on the child’s age is: window or aisle? Is it better to be tucked away or with space to move easily?

On the road

The younger the children, the easier it is to travel and the costs are smaller. Babies almost always fall asleep along the way, whether by car, train or plane.

With young children is easier at hotels ,they can sleep in a baby-folding crib or baby carriage. In most hotels for children under age of three is free (and sometimes even more).

To make children easier to adapt, don't forget to take there favorite toy, blanket or pajamas.
With older children is a little bit different.
A miraculous tool will be your phone, iPad, laptop, interesting books, toys.

A good friend once told me that travel is one of the best family investments that you can make. There is the anticipation which can make you happy for months, there is the experience which can change your life, and then there are the memories, which bind and sustain your family for years to come. There is no flat screen tv or wardrobe piece that has that effect.

Sort:

I flew with my "energetic" 10 month old last year and the stress of travel pales in comparison to the enjoyment, fun and experiences we had together. We are off again but with a 2 year old and a 6 month old and I can't wait.
My biggest tip for flying with kids is always be super nice to the check in staff. They know your traveling with kids and try and find you an aisle with a spare seat to let the little ones lie down.
