Best Travel Apps for Minimalist Travel | My Top 10!

in #travel7 years ago

Hey there! I hope you're having a good Monday. :)

It's been almost 3 years since I quit my job and started downsizing my life. I’ve been travelling outside the States for a year and a half now with everything I own fitting into a bag or two. Where does the time go? :)

I recently put together a video where I explain my top 10 favourite travel apps so I wanted to share those with you here.

These apps are incredibly useful to me and all are free with the exception of the two marked with an asterisk:

  1. Facebook Messenger - for free phone calls and video messaging.
  2. Instagram - for networking with other like-minded vegan travellers.
  3. Snapseed - for editing photos on my phone.
  4. Google Maps - helps me find my way around a new city.
  5. Google Translate - helps me communicate with the locals.
  6. Trail Wallet* - helps me stick to a budget and keeps my spending in check.
  7. XE Currency Converter - lets me know the current value of my money.
  8. Nord VPN* - lets me online securely and allows me to use country-specific apps (like Pandora) while travelling outside the US.
  9. Relax Melodies - helps me sleep at night.
  10. Period Tracker by GP International LLC - keeps track of my period and lets me know when to expect it.

I hope these apps help you travel simply as well!

If you want to hear more about why I find these apps useful, check out my video:

oh helpful :) thank you following for more post :D

thank you for reading! :)

WOW! You are making a good use of so many apps. The only thing I was thinking while reading these was that if these were the top ten apps, how many other apps you must be using! Many of these apps need to be merged into a single app ....at least for a minimalist 😉 Probably some food for thought for a developer here.

I think Happy Cow deserves a mention for eating out a vegan meal ...or Is It Vegan app, Uber for hiring cabs. ....And I prefer Telegram over Facebook Messenger ....and did you forget esteem app? 😜

I do have a lot of apps on my phone. 😅 I like HappyCow's website but I don't use the app. I know you have to pay to use the app and using it on my laptop is easier for me. Also I don't eat out much lately (saving money that way) 🙂 But HappyCow is an important one for vegans on the move, especially us foodies!

I'm not familiar with Telegram or the Esteem app. What is Esteem? 🙂

It's really good for you if you don't eat out much but HappyCow app is free. Check here.

Regarding Telegram, it is a versatile open source free app as well as desktop client ...with much better features and functionality than messenger and whatsapp. And I don't use eSteem but it's a must for any traveling Steemian. To download and check out more about it please visit here

Thank you for this!! I was hoping I could access Steemit in an app. You read my mind! :D
