'The Mysterious Yard'

crta.png

Inner yards of old buildings are always interesting to take a look at. Sometimes they are just beautiful and sometimes there is a secret or two to be uncovered there. If the place is private, the door is usually locked. It is safe to assume this one is open to the public.

I find wine grape climbing its way to the upper floor. It is winter and the plant is sleeping but I am able to imagine it full of grapes at the end of summer. Even so, I didn't expect to find one here. Check out where it grows from.

Further down, in the back of the yard, I find an old stone tablet. It is really big and thick. I recognize it. This is a stone carving found on island Krk. Bašćanska ploča is the name of the original artefact from the end of 11th century or beginning of the 12th. Its importance lies in the fact that this is the oldest written word 'Croat'. It is mentioned in the sentence: "... the land which Zvonimir, the Croatian king, gave..." The Croatian King of the era, Zvonimir gave the land to the Church and it was written down in stone.

This was written in the old Croatian alphabet called Glagolitic. It has nothing to do with Russian Cyrillic nor Latin alphabet. Sadly, Croatians do not use it for centuries nor we learn it in schools, even though it's not hard at all. However, it is still being used for tattoo inscriptions that might intimidate the uninitiated. :D

The clock on the wall. Human restraints. Running on other people's schedules. Actual belief in the existence of time. The more one acknowledges the fourth dimension, the more one gets influenced by its dark boons. But, it looks really nice up there, doesn't it?

The inner yards hide weird things, I tell ya! :)

Enjoy your day!

I like the picture of the clock. It's pretty neat! That kind of clock is uncommon in our country, making it picture-worthy. The good thing about this kind of subject is it stands out no matter where you put it in the frame. Thanks for sharing.

Nice piece of art and an excellent depiction of civilization of that time...

Beautiful. I like it.

It's always interesting to see how people in Europe fortify themselves. While here in America houses are so easily accessible to thieves :D

I guess the right body should work on that... America is way bigger than that

The Mysterious Yard' looks very attractive and clean.you always to trip doing beautifull place.... find the design of roof coverings to be so different around the world. Sometimes I think shingles here are designed to be replaced. A never ending industry, where in other places the roof looks like it could last forever.i like your story of travel.enjoy your good day to travel.thanks to sharing for your good post..@velimir

Great. In this post you tell us about architecture, history, travel. The internal courtyards are eventually used to give natural ventilation and natural lighting to the living and in your photos you can see very well. :-D

Nice architecture..I love the wine grape when it wake and cover his entourage with his pleasant leaves.

an impressive journey of many things to see and learn from new places to visit, a very interesting place, a very beautiful and charming old building

@velimir Your language in explaining the meaning of life like a poet, may your day is always happy.

I’m drawn to the roof. I find the design of roof coverings to be so different around the world. Sometimes I think shingles here are designed to be replaced. A never ending industry, where in other places the roof looks like it could last forever.

Hi @velimir
I find interesting old European buildings. For example, judging by the photographs, the main feature of the old Croatian buildings is the bright red roof. From the outside it looks very beautiful.
Each courtyard is interesting in its own way, especially if it is closed. People tend to show interest in inaccessible things.
Very interesting idea with grapes. This saves and decorates this place. I'm sure the grape looks much better in summer. Double benefit - aesthetic appearance and delicious grapes. I liked how they came up with to plant him.
The ancient alphabet looks interesting and mysterious. I think this is one of the reasons why it is done on tattoos. I often see tattoos with Chinese characters. People like it.
That's exactly what you said about time. Time was invented by people in order to better orient yourself in space. In fact, time does not exist. But nevertheless people give meaning to many other (not time) meaningless things.

The inner yards hide weird things, I tell ya! :)

Well said. Have a nice day.

Everything looks normal in the garden.
except for the stone tablet! it is interesting, really.
11th century.
I loved this stone!

Old is gold.
Old places are not just beautiful, but also they have something meaning full.
Some message that a very deep person can understand.
Massage of peace and calmness.
Thanks for sharing such a beautiful place with us.

I like the clock because it is not common. thanks for sharing. it is powerful.

Very interesting the description makes you feel in the place

I am glad to see real photographers via steemit. Also thanks to steemit for providing us the platform of watching live and real images of different sceneries of the world. Please mention a little bit history of this great PALACE. Thank you

A place of construction has a purpose. Unfortunately, not a few places that used to be together, making people turn into a mystery, as in your post.

And still many places or cities that do not know the mystery.

Like the Eastern State Prison at Pennsylvanis, the Eastern State Penitentiary is a prison with a castle architecture that operated from 1829-1971. Some of the most famous gangster criminals in the United States such as Al Capone once inhabited the Eastern State. After the hell is closed, this place is so mysterious.

Bodie City in California, USA Bodie City was officially established United States Government in 1876 because it found the abundance of gold and silver. Bodie has all the amenities for a big city. Standing many embroidered houses from a variety of criminal acts. But now Bodie like a ghost town because of bankruptcy in 1940. And there are still many cities or other places.

i like motorcycle very much

good work @velimir but you don't tell us which building is this. And if you talk aboute just yards of buildings it so impressive for me because i like court yards even in home.In my country we have traditionally big yards in the center of our homes.

Actual belief in the existence of time. Time is unstoppable and can't wait for anything under the surface of sun, Rather we have to do our parts and wait for out time to come. Take a look at my art work on my profile. @donnelson

Hola @velimir
Saludos

Interesting to learn a little about the croatian old alphabet through your artwork.
