Saludos desde Ronda!

I arrived in this beautiful city, at the end of the afternoon, after a three hour trip by bus and train from Granada. During the hour and a half by train, I was accompanied by a young German couple that I met in the bus. To my surprise, they had made the exact same travel as me, albeit in one single week. They came from Berlin (where they live), then went to Madrid, then Granada and now Ronda. I left the Netherland three and a half weeks ago, went to Berlin, Madrid, Granada and now Ronda. Pretty amazing, right?

We had a great talk - although I was the one who talked the most, which they didn't seem to mind - and I hope that they stay in touch with me. The guy told me he was working on a novel and that afterwards, when it's finished, he wants to write a screenplay for a fiction film that should take place on The Canary islands. To be precise, on the island 'La Gomera.' Now I haven't been to La Gomera but I have been to Las Islas Canarias recently. And, if you've been following me for a while, you will know that I worked on a fiction movie on the tiny volcanic island El Hierro, in 2016-17. As this German fellow has never made a movie before, I would love to give him some advice. Not for the first time in my life, I said, half-jokingly, that I could probably write a book called: 'How Not to Make a Movie'. So, if he needs any advice, he knows whom to ask...

Ronda

After getting picked up at the bus station in Ronda and dumping my stuff at the airbnb where I will be spending the next three nights, I got a ride back into town. I was extremely hungry, but managed to shoot some pictures before I decided to just go have some tapas and return to the city, tomorrow, for more pictures and a long walk/ hike.

The tapas were mediocre. I am starting to realize that there are either loads of mediocre tapas being sold in Spain or that I'm perhaps not such a big fan of them as I thought was.

Anyhow, let's focus on the positives. I arrived in a new town. My host is extremely hospitable - she fed me soup tonight and invited me to go to a concert with her, her kid and her grandchild, tomorrow evening. I am looking forward to what tomorrow will bring me.

Buenas noches y un abrazo desde Ronda!

Thank you and @paradigmprospect

Nice to see that even my lesser posts - in my opinion - actually get valued.

Have a great weekend!

Thanks for sharing these incredible photos! It encourages me to travel more, although it can be tiring.
spain is the best place in the world.@vincentnijman

you're welcome and yes, it can be tiring but ' al fin, vale la pena '
it's worth it.

I´m discovering Spain with you! Ronda looks really beautiful.

You're not the first Spanish person who tells me that (s)he has seen less of Spain than I have :>)
Actually, I - for instance - have never been on either one of the 7 islands at the North of the Netherlands.

You're touring ex-Morrocan lands, see the difference from the northern parts already?

Their impact was great, this was a caliphate for some time....

Si señor!

I have been in this part of Spain before, back in 2009 (Cordoba, Seville, Granada, Malaga) but never before in Ronda nor have I visited - my next destination - Tarifa.

I love this mix of styles, how you can literally see the layers of history, culture and religion, sometimes even in one single building.

Buen fin de semana, amigo!

Mr Worldwide :P

Jejeje! I have only been in Europe so far, even though the Canary Islands didn't feel that European (except for the tourists).

Those cliffs... I am afraid of heights like that, get vertigo and everything. While very pretty, i would probably instantly evolve octopus suckers on my back and cling to the side of a building LOL

Haha!

Says the guy who climbs on ladders all the time ;>)

I am slightly afraid of heights myself but not when there's a gate and all.
I once went for an extremely scary 10 to 15 minute walk, over an arching cliff , dozens of metres above a wild and rocky sea (in November 2016) on El Hierro, Canary islands. I should still have some GoPro footage of that. I was literally glad I survived that walk. Sometimes I tend to push myself.

Adembenemend zicht...

Looks like an amazing place!

It is pretty pretty but also very touristic. It's hard to take pictures without people on it.
