in #travel7 years ago

When I went to Paris and London, the first place I visited were
the Louvre and the British museum.
First , I was so amazed at the appearance and dignity of two museums.
This is a picture of two museums.
but, I want you to know in advance that the photos did not capture the dignity. :)
The first one is the British museum
and the second one is the Louvre.

There are many things I want to talk about,
but Today! I want to talk about Venus.
I saw Venus in both museums,
'Venus de Milo' in the Louvre and 'Venus de Medici' in the British museum.

When I saw Venus, the goddess of love and beauty, I was fascinated by the beauty of Venus.
'Venus de Milo' is losing both arms, but among experts, it is said to be the most beautiful statue that shows incomplete beauty without arms.
This is a picture about 'Venus de Milo'

The statue was originally discovered in 1820 by a Greek farmer named Yorgos Kentrotas on the island of Milos, which was under the colonial rule of the Ottoman Turkish Empire.

And there are two reasons why 'Venus de Milo' lost her arms.
First, There are no arms from the excavation.
Second, There was a fierce battle between the French and Turkish naval forces over the statue, and her arms were cut off as they tried to take each other.

The funny thing is the reason why France plundered the Venus de Milo in 1820 was because of the " Venus de Medici, " a cultural asset that Napoleon plundered throughout Italy.
From the perspective of the Louis 18-year-old Restoration Kingdom, which was always in contrast to Napoleon, the looting of Venus de Milo was able to become an achievement.

And this is the picture of Venus de Medici.

After Venus of Milo, Many artist have portrayed Aphrodite (Venus), the goddess of beauty.
and I considered that what are the criteria for recreating a beautiful woman rather than past?
