Let's go wandering....Japan- Kyoto

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

Hello steempeeps,

Today we just wanted to flashback to our trip to Japan this past April. One of the most popular attractions in Kyoto, Japan is the Arashiyama (嵐山, Storm Mountain) Bamboo forest in Sagano, Kyoto. Although crowded, like every touristy must see spot, it's still one of the most popular places for a photo op. You can see people taking wedding photos in their traditional Japanese kimonos etc. The path of bamboo is short, but it was still a pretty sight. While in Arashiyama, we were told to try the tofu cuisine as Arashiyama was known for tofu. Although we didn't opt for a full-on tofu dining experience, we did have tofu soft serve ice cream which was amazing. Kyoto's public transportation to most of these popular attractions are usually by bus which is still pretty convenient as they come pretty often. (Google maps was definitely handy, so make sure to download language settings so it shows both English and Japanese so its easier for you to figure out where you're going and what buses/trains to take). As you head to this beautiful bamboo forest, you'll be dropped off on the busiest street in Arashiyama with a bunch of street food, snacks, matcha, souvenir shops and the famous Kyozuan for their tofu soft serve ice cream. The ice cream is so rich and creamy that if you hold it upside down, it does not fall off the cone! We don't blame you for having trust issues, we wouldn't want ours ending up on the floor either. Luckily Kyozuan was true to their word!

Keep wandering! :)
