So whilst I was exploring the ancient city of Petra in Jordan, myself along with 2 others went off-trail and started making our way hiking up and around one of the many red, white and pink sandstone cliffs.
As we were ascending up this cliff we came upon various caves which were carved into the cliff face.
As you can see from the picture above the cliff walls looked stunning and these rich red, white and pink tones change throughout the day as the sun sets.
But just as we turned around this corner we found something which we did not expect, hidden from view, completely off-tourist trail, carved way up into this sandstone cliff was a little tea shop owned by an old Jordanian fellow.
This was the tea shop which was also where he lived, carved into the stunning sandstone cliff
The view from the tea shop was outstanding, it was overlooking a valley of sandstone structures and mountains
Oh and the tea and biscuits were delicious!
Unfortunately the photos taken from my phone really don't do this place justice, the views were incredible and we were really lucky to even find the little tea shop. The shop owner was a very kind man and he actually lives inside the cliff face where he had carved out a little cave home, it reminded me of The Flinstones. Somehow he even had electricity!
Love the exploration! Keep it up!
Petra is such an amazing place.
