AN ELEPHANT IN THE CITY...

in #travel7 years ago

They call themselves "MACHINES OF THE ISLE OF NANTES" which comes quite natural as this artistic company is based in Nantes, France. They intenteded to bring back to live the industrial background of the city.

Now what you see is a kind of freaky Steampunk zoo with animals bigger than nature made out of wood and steel...and they are moving! For example you have an elephant that is 12 meters high and about 8 meters wide on which you can take a tour...only you have to be careful not to get wet when he sneezes.

Here's a link to their homepage if you want total a closer look : https://www.lesmachines-nantes.fr/en/

Of course I took some pictures on my last visit that I want to share with you...it's really worth the trip:

Do I take it that those are mobile while people are in them? Super cool!

I think Long Ma actually translates to 'numbing-spicy dragon'.

Absolutely...they are moving at some walking speed.

Wow! These are amazing!

Now I know why the elephant is the only one where the driver has a windshield.....sneezeguard. Very cool, and "steampunk zoo," is a great description.

Living in India it seems normal that you are sensitive to elephants in general...lol

What beautiful animals despite being made of metal and wood are a reflection of everything that man can do, and to make the walk on them must be something great, beautiful pictures.

Might be visiting France my kid would love them

Such epic works of art. I hope I could visit one day.

It is amazing, another reason for me to visit Europe and France. I wish to visit Europe soon.

If you come to Paris just let me know...

I am still student, collecting some money. I am planning to be there in couple of years, and would definitely let you know.

This is so crazy @whornung!! I feel like these are the 1st machines that the Terminator will summon when the AntiChrist is revealed, after we're raptured!!

Long Ma and a spider came to Ottawa.

This is great, how I wish to see this once. Thank you so much for sharing this with us @whornung.
