This is a great write up on Chiang Mai and totally agree with you. I'm currently living here and the place is awesome. The people, food, weather, activities are all great and lots to do and see in this area.
Your idea for @travel-report sounds fantastic and I would like to write some posts for that. I, like you, travel a lot and have lived in some really cool places.

Been there. Done that. Got the t-shirt. 😁 On Koh Samui actually when the only way to get there was a boat from Surat Thani and there was only one small hotel. Not that I saw it. We stayed in a hut on the beach. Wonderful!

I love the concept of your travel reports, so informative! Chiang Mai is so famous as a budget traveller destination, I have never been, but maybe I will finally make it in March before heading back to Germany!
