Ancient Ajina-Tepe Buddhist Monastery
The Ancient Ajina-Tepe Buddhist Monastery is situated in the Vakhsh Valley near Kurgan-Tyube. It was an archaeological find by Boris Letvinsky in the sixties wherein he dug up a “sleeping Buddha” as part of the monastery. This piece of ancient art has forty four divisions all in all.
There was also a stupa within the area and ancient painting on the rocks. Some clay statues were also uncovered by the scientists and most of it is now preserved.
