An Amazing trip to Beautiful Mallorca Spain

in #travel8 years ago (edited)

Mallorca, Spain. I had never been, but always wanted to go.

The island of Mallorca is one of the most popular European destinations for those searching for a Mediterranean escape. The people are extremely friendly and the place is known for both it's relaxing atmosphere as well as being a party destination.

When traveling to Mallorca, you will fly into the Palma de Mallorca Airport.

From Palma Airport, you can either elect to take a public bus or a cab to your destination. In this case and because my wife and I were carrying suitcases, we chose to take a short cab ride to Cala Major where our hotel was.

The drive itself was pleasant. The streets weren't particularly crowded and there was a sense of calmness and tranquility. My wife and I decided to come here on the spur of the moment. We had friends that constantly talked about Spain and because we love the beach, we decided to pick this location.

We booked a room at the Mirablau Hotel which is conveniently located near the beach and near the Marivent Palace, which I was told is the summer residence of the Spanish royal family. It is centrally located and caters to those who enjoy the beach, but also for those who want easy access to the city and other scenic areas of the island.

Here was the breathtaking view from our room

Although going for a swim and laying lazily on the beach were a part of our agenda, by this time we were beginning to get hungry. There are numerous little restaurants all over the place and paella is a famous dish which you could find almost anywhere. It is one of Spain’s famous national dishes concocted from a mix of seafood, meat and saffron-flavored rice. We found a nice little restaurant on the beach near our hotel and decided to try the famous national dish.

Aside from the beach and many restaurants, there is a lot to do in Mallorca. We also took a stroll through a quaint little town called Sóller. The town itself had many little shops and cafe's where one can shop or even just pull up a chair and a book and relax all day. There is also a little wooden tram that will take you down to the port where you can enjoy freshly made ice cream.

We also took a cab to the Gardens of Alfabia, which were beautiful and definitely worth visiting if you are a person who enjoys stunning gardens and flowers. I would caution to be weary of mosquito's though. They seemed to enjoy my foreign blood.

Most of our trip we spent lounging on the beach and lying next to the pool.

The local cuisine was amazing, the beaches are nice, the water - fantastic and crystal clear and warm. This is definately a place where you can spend the day on the beach, take a short siesta and get ready to party in the evening.

This is the perfect paradise - leave the stress of your everyday life behind. I enjoyed a week of waking up to my beautiful wife and a beautiful sunrise, spending the day in a beautiful exotic environment, and going to bed after a delicious Spanish meal and warm sunset. Who could ask for anything else

I Hope you enjoyed the trip.

I spent 2.5 months in Palma de Majorca back in 2006/2007 and I can't wait to go back.

Yes, the beach is nice but my favorite shot is the fountain platform or bridge you have in this post. :-)

Yep. That walkway in the garden was amazing. It was very nicely arranged and setup. Havent seen anything else like it in the world

This is really nice!

On 28 September we will be in Mallorca we can not wait for our 2 visit to this beautiful island ...
